Mopar Heads ~ 'The Best Chevy Street Performer You Ever Owned'

Beginning with my first vehicle in the fall 0f '68, a 66 A100, I have owned a lot of Mopars and a lot of Chevys.

In '72 bought a '63 Nova wagon for $10 with blown up 6. Got a complete fully dressed 283 2bbl including the bellhousing clutch and flywheel from the junkyard for $50. Junkyard bucket seats, 14 inch wheels, Mopar radiator, all for $40. Splurged on a new Hurst shifter for $60. Got it on the road for $200, good car, drove it everywhere, got 20mpg on highway.

Built another $10 '63 nova for my brother, a 2dr sedan. His got a hot 327, $60 set of forged 11:1 pistons, $100 on sale Crane solid lifter cam and kit, used 2.02 heads, used Edelbrock manifold, used Holley 780, $75 new Lakewood housing, used steel flywheel and heavy clutch, M22 4sp with Hurst super shifter that we had, 5:38 gears that we had. That car was a LOT of fun, could not jump on it from a dead stop, but from a rolling start, hang on!

In '95 built a '85 S10 V8, warmed up 355, same M22 as in the '63 Nova, found an adapter to mate Muncie to S10 transfer case. Still had the open 3:42 S10 axle, so again could not jump on it from standing start, took it to the track once, even with just driving it off the line it went 100mph in the quarter, just shifting from 3rd to 4th at finish line. Discovered it would go a lot faster than I wanted to drive it. Drove it year round for 3 years, ended up parking it because of serious rustout in cab.
