SUPER STOCK BO29 HEMI Barracuda and LO23 Hemi Dart forum
Most of you know I been involved in the restoration of Tom Myl's BO29 HEMI Barracuda. I notice myself going to other forums (Websites) about some history on these cars, and I was thinking the other night that I don't understand why the Best website does not have a forum just for these cars. I thought that forabodiesonly should have a separate forum on these cars, because they are an A body super car. I thought it would be nice for the people on here that know these cars and remember them to get a chance to post what they know and to get those other important people that are just into these cars here on this site. So we would have all the information here and have its own place on this website. So I contacted Joeychgo about this. This what he had to say. "I don't think adding a forum just on history will get that much action. Your welcome to start a thread on history if you like". I said it's more than history. He said, "I know what your saying, I just don't think there would be enough activity for a whole forum. Just make a post of what you are looking for". So I was looking around here, there are a lot of other forums here that do not get hardly any action. I think it would get a lot more than what he thinks.

What do you people think?

Great idea:cheers: Would love to see these cars get some recognition they deserve!

Dave,

I think these cars are the BADDEST of all time! I hung out with THE MAN BULLET BOB REED at Englishtown and his barracuda, SS/A banging 2nd gear in the air, "where I come from if U ain't got a stick car U ain't got nothin', my mom has an automatic". and met John Freil with his Dart and Ray Barton at Epping back in the day

The factory built super stocks are why I am into the A-body myself.
Sadly it sometimes can appear alot of the knowledge of these beast seems to be lost to time and racing evolution. Even to the owners of these rarities themselves.
I'll share when I can.

An absolutely brilliant idea. Thank You davescuda.
If its like I can post a question on here about these cars, I will sure add to the activity :)
Thank´s again. Stefan From Sweden

I think its a good idea. I think those darts & barracudas are AWSOME. Would love to know more about them. How many are left, who owns them, what they did with the motor & trans, ect. They are HISTORY:supz:

I'm all for that! I'd love to see stuff about real deal cars, restorations, replicas, drag race history and maybe even some of the current SS/AH stuff - sounds like a winner to me.

Invite all the guys from Class Racer forum over here, there's that one long thread they've had going for a while. Perhaps a dedicated forum might reel in more knowledgeable types and old racers.

My inquiry a while back about a 2nd gen A-body Hemi swap forum fell on deaf ears...

And this is why we need there to be a major forum to have this important information and not some where else. This an A body site needs to have the baddest A Body Car Forum!!!

I must have missed your post. If your still looking for some Hemi swap info fire away.

Its a small group of enthusiasts when it comes to the historically correct build methods
of these cars.
From what I can tell the largest majority of todays Hemi A-body builders are more into 3G,
efi, rack and pinion steering, stroker motors and (gasp) even turbochargers.
These 68 SS's are much to primitive for most of the guys who are building a cars taste.

Some of us are still out here.

Butch Leal's Super Stock Dart lives in Oklahoma last I heard.....

Butch Leal

'Delano Motors Dodge'

SS/B ~ 4-Speed

Butch Leal was partners with David Price on that 'shortly' campaigned car.

I have photo's of it at Lions Drag Strip in Long Beach, California in the Spring of 1968, with Butch driving it.

I agree Dave. Remember it took some convincing to get "lost and found" started up.
Makes sense to me to have a forum dedicated to the most famous Abodies on an Abody site.

I don't get why a presumed lack of action is a reason not to have a Forum ? of course that should be a Forum on this board ,this is primarily an information board so the more info the better , beats the useless threads we have tieing up server space regarding crap that has nothing to do with A Bodies -rock on Dave

Personally, I think it's a great idea. While I love reading, peering over & learning ANYTHING about these cars I'm always learning something new---and I'm on my THIRD Hemi/A-body car! I think there's little "glitches", quirks, whatever you want to call them in building these cars whether a strict clone or near-clone that can be answered in such a forum.
For example: did you know that if you run frame connectors through the floorpan they'll interfere with mounting the non-adjustable seat brackets? Or the current Mopar x-ram is larger than the original one & can cause even more interference issues in an already tight engine compartment?
These are just some quirks I found working on my past & current projects & it can be an expensive & frustrating road to go down if you don't have experience or a resource to rely on........

Some Back History

Butch Leal received the LO23 Hemi Dart 4-Speed. It was to be 'nationally' campaigned
with 'financial support' from David Price of Delano Motors Dodge.

After a short run of 1-Month, the 'well' went dry. Financial issues.

The SS/B Hemi Dart was then sold.

This is a must.
Have you contacted Joey?????

I did he said no. Thats why I started this post. He does not relies how many people are into these cars. Just the point that they are A bodies and we have nothing for them.
