1966 Barracuda... anyone know a good source for the weather stripping / molding / installation kits for the rear window? And any tips on installing the back glass other than DON'T!? Been looking around a little and everything I've found seems pretty generic. Looking some of the chrome too, but I'm not as stressed about those as I am the rear glass. Thanks in advance.

as far as i know laysons use to be the only one with rear window rubber,,,but some oen else may know differnt buy now,,if you call them ask if it is in stock and ready to ship before u send them money,, you will need the locking strip also,,,they have that but use to be able to get that at jc whitney or any auto glass place its the saem as 1980 dodge /gm van pick up truck winshield locking strip measure adn make sure u get enough usually takes 2 baggs of lock strip,,installing the rear window is easy,,,soap up the seal and slide the glass in, gettign it out after all these years is harder BECAREFUL

Try Bethel's Goat Farm in San Jose, it sounds weird, but if you call them, they'll help you out with the part #, also try rubbertherightway, super helpful and friendly. I would ask about how to replace the gasket yourself, they gave me some tips how to replace the locking strip on mine, yeah, it really all comes down to soap & water, but I hear the glass is heavy, that$ no ordinary back window!

I would watch a few YouTube videos of shops replacing glass and seals on vintage/classic cars, the kind that are time-lapsed so you can catch every step.

I have a friend who restored his 66 cuda last year he got a complete kit of rubber seals for his from Layson's he said you have to call they don't have the kit listed he said it was around 1100$ for the kit, i'm with you i have been looking for years at different pieces and to be honest not sure if i have ever found everything to do the job [there's always that i piece you forget] and your stuck till you find it that's why i would like a kit also.

Well fellas, one call to Jeff at Deutchmann Automotive will net you the rear window seal and the locking strip, which I believe totals out at less than $200! Not only is he at least 5% cheaper than everyone else, he is also an early A body owner! 419-352-7894

As for doing the job, I do all the glass work my self, and usually by myself, and with a gasketted window the job is not as hard as you might think! I use a combination of plastic body filler spreader paddles and plastic putty knives, and for the back glass on my blue 66, I used 3M black window setting caulk in a tube, masked off the car to keep it from getting on the car, caulked in the body to gasket channel first and pressed that on, then did the window channel and set in the glass! With the back glass, I pushed it forward into the channel that goes up around the top, it pretty much sets itself into the channel on the vertical shelf, and the only area I really had to work it was into the channel above the trunk, which was the easiest place to reach when you're trying to get the rubber to come up around the glass! The locking strip from Deutchmann is enough to do the entire window, but you need to save the corners from your old glass as they dont come with the locking strip! Yea, the 3M caulk gets all over the glass, but is easily cleaned up, and it's black so when it's done it is not seen in the gasket itself! I could've used soap and water like I sometimes do on the front windshields, but I didn't want to take any chances on it leaking and having to pull it, so I put up with the mess and cleaned it up! I think it took me about 2 hours on a nice sunny day, I put the gasket out in the sun to warm it and make it more flexible, then just went headlong at it and got ER dun!!!

Thanks, all. I do have the glass already (and I got it for only $120) so I'm half way there and in good shape in the wallet, still. The glass is really heavy.

did you get new lock strip ?? lisle tools makes the tool to install the locking strip,,most auto parts stores that carry lisle usually have it hanging on the wall,, i believe my local store still has one,,, i have one if u need the part number to order it,,,good luck back window is a breeze

Hate to bump on this, but has anyone ever ordered from www.autobodyspecialt.com? I show they have the front and rear window gaskets including lock strip for a rather cheap price. I am also looking for the gaskets as well and was curious if anyone has any experience with them.
