Got a 72 dart and need some new motor mounts. It's a stout engine that will see a lot of street time strip time. What aftermarket ones do u guys recommend I'm also running a stock trans mount

Schumacher Poly Loc
Buy them from Schumacher or Mancini.
Mancini also has the stock rubber style with a bolt through them, they transmit less vibration. They both offer a torque strap.
Poly Locs are great, but they do transmit some vibration at certain frequencies, i.e., my car vibrates a little at idle, but not otherwise noticeable at any other RPM.

Or you can go the high tech route... ;)

I used Schumacher PolyLoc's on my BC and included a Schumacher transmission mount. They have a nice torsion strap kit as well.

I'm in the process of removing both the Schumacher Polymounts and poly transmount I just put in my '68 during my Magnum upgrade. The vibration was just too much at idle and everyday driving. As stated, they were better once rolling, but even then, the added vibration was an issue. There are many post on the internet advising against using stock mounts alone. They just aren't as good as they used to be, and they were regularly breaking under performance use.

My current small block motor puts out about 480 hp, so I knew it would likely break a stock style rubber mount. I didn't want to mess with chaining it or adding torque straps, so I ordered up a set of Mitymounts. http://www.mitymounts.com/chrysler.htm

I have them in my shaker hooded '70 E-Body. That motor puts out 710 hp and nearly that much torque with a 5 speed. They perform flawlessly. There is enough give in these mounts to allow my shaker to do its thing, but they solidly lock under power to keep the engine from destroying my hood set-up.

They are as easy to install as a stock mount and I highly recommend them. I am using a rubber and steel transmission mount from Trans Dapt Performance. It is stronger than a stock mount, but still gives the benefit of not passing vibrations through to the chassis.

Here's the link to how they work. http://www.mitymounts.com/howtheywork.htm

Been using the Schumacker poly mounts and torque strap for 6 years now..

Not a bad price at all. So your happy with them right and vibration isn't bad

running solid steel engine mounts street and strip for 30 years with a well internally balanced engine, no vibes, sweet as pie, rubber trans mount

I may just try a use a torque strap from schumacher that would cause it not to break out style mounts wouldn't it
This would be a good call. The gal at Schumacher tried to talk me out of the polyloc mounts and use their strap kit instead. It is a good looking unit. When I pulled my motor, the stock left side mount was separated with a 2V 273 with 72K miles on it. You will definitely want something, even the chain deal will work!

Another question I think I have the schumake kit to go from slant 6 to V8 and one mount is thicker then the other. If I order some stock replacement mounts are they like that as well. I was thinking they were the same thickness

Depending on what you decide -- I have a new in the box (never opened) /6 to 318 Schumacher conversion mount set I'd sell you for less than whatever they're charging now. PM me if interested. I'm not home now, but will be in a couple days, could pull them out.

Nope.. i still kept ripping the rubber mounts out even with the torque strap, thats why i installed the poly locks..
