New non-Mopar for me--'74 Firebird

-
Love the Pontiac; my favorite brand of GM and yours is a very nice example with the color combination.

What are your plans for the car?

Good looking bird

In 77 when I ordered my new Aspen would like to have gotten a Trans Am, really like the older Formulas but in 77 the hood sucked, but also because of smoky & the bandit everyone had black trans ams I decided to get my Aspen

Neighbor had a 73 Firebird till a couple of years ago with 58.1 miles, yes that is right, he was going to make it into a show car but never did. Bought it new, drove it home and it sat till 2010 when he sold it at Indy Mecum auction. It was probably worth a whole lot more as original low mile than if he made it into an over the top show car like his 67 GTO

ENJOY IT!

I'm going to get it reliable, touch it up, wheel it out, and drive the hell out of it. My favorite cars have a few blemishes and look lived in. This one will be perfect for me. :)

Hi. I miss mine also. I owned a 1974 Firebird mine being a Formula 400. It was maroon with a black vinyl top and a tan interior. Does yours have a rear window defogger? I found mine the other day, think that's all I have left of it. Bobby

It does have the defogger, although i haven't tried it out yet. In fact, I drove the car on the road for the first time on Sunday. It drives pretty well, but needs tires badly. Those old Polyglas GTs are slippery and clunky (of course). Burnouts are a toe tap away. :)

yep love that pic of the interior. still basic enough for me, yep just garbs ya! I have wondered many years if Ma Mopar had carried the ball a little longer like that of the firebird, if they would have survived better!???

and I love that body style, always have. still temped in my old age to grab one, just so I can buy some "cheaper" GM parts for a while!???? ha/..... yes really!

Thought I'd update this a bit; I've put almost a thousand miles on this thing, and after some elbow grease and a little "cleaning out the cobwebs" mechanical work, it's not too bad!

thanks for the update. I remember when you bought it. NO it is not a Mopar, but a very nice car!!! I always like their style. yes I would drive it too!

That is nice! I had a *67 Firebird but passed it along to our son last year. I think I had owned it for about 45 years!

You're bringin' back some memories! I had a '74 TransAm that my ex and I ordered brand new. Buccaneer Red with a black interior. I loved that car, but gave my ex her choice of the paid-off TransAm or our new '83 Hurst Olds and the payments when we split up. She took the T/A and trashed it.
Keep that good-looking Firebird drivin' and enjoy it! Classic body style that will always look good (but looks better with the TransAm body parts).

Had a 69 Firebird(with a Buick 350!),and a 72 Formula 400 (black on black) ..72 was the most fun car,I miss it the most.....Nice ride,it cleaned up well....(op's ride..).
