Wayne Rogers, whose Trapper John McIntyre alongside Alan Alda's Hawkeye Pierce brought mischief, martinis and meatball surgery to the masses in the 1970s every week on "M.A.S.H.," has died.

The actor was surrounded by family when he died Thursday in Los Angeles of complications from pneumonia at age 82, his publicist and longtime friend Rona Menashe told The Associated Press.

Rogers' army surgeon Trapper John was one of the most beloved characters — and half of one of the most beloved duos — in TV history, despite the actor's appearing in only the first three of the show's 11 seasons on CBS.

Dang, all the good ones are gone! It just makes Mash more of a treasure.

Wow. Makes me feel old. May he RIP.

Loved MASH,.. Roger's and Alda's quip's made me a fan of sarcasm.. I did enjoy watching the show mature ,in it's timeline. Unknown to most here: He became a investment consultant, on Fox...R.I.P. , you made my childhood, funny & educational.

huh - one those "forgotten" stars that we all loved to laugh with but were never exactly sure who he was - I could have picked him out of a crowd but, I had no idea what his name was, I am sure i would have said "hey, Trapper!" - sad news - growing up, no afternoon was complete with some MASH in it - Godspeed funny man.

RIP Wayne. You made me laugh many times.
MASH was always a great show. You could laugh your *** off in one scene then bawl your eyes out the next.

R.I.P. Wayne, i too loved your humor in the M.A.S.H. series.
What you and Hawkeye did to Frank Burns made me laugh all of the time!
What a great show.........
