Very nice cars. The stripe does look very good on all those color combos. I notice my car has the 383-S emblem below the Barracuda on the fenders. Incorrect since it came with the V6X option?

Good question. Mine has the stripe & all it has on the fender is the fish emblem. Pictures of my dads 69 cuda (in 69) doesn't have the stripe & it has the 340-s on the fenders. OOOPs I am wrong all mine has is the BAARACUDA emblems

Yes, your correct as far as i know. The black car is original paint/stripe, the guy owned for 30 years and i have early pics. My T5 car a friend owned in the mid '70s and only has the Barracuda emblem...NO FISH.

You can only go by original cars since so many had been redone over the years, i know a guy that has a white 340 stripe on red body fastback that is a survivor. I have pics of that somewhere, but don't exactly remember the emblems. I'll look around or contact him for pics.

Here is another Y2 survivor MODTOP with black 340 stripe.....NO FISH emblem!!

I've seen them with both as well. That's why I wondered which was really correct. I suspect that cars without the stripe called out got the 383S emblem below the Barracuda.

I've uploaded this shot from the 1970 Hamtramck Registry site. This from an original 69 Barracuda brochure/ dealership data book. It has the 383 car decked out in a stripe, Barracuda emblem and the 383-S emblem. If I just added the stripe, that's the way my car would be today.

Thanks to all !! I've mainly had/restored E and B body cars the last 40 years. Never thought I could come up with an A body big block fastback, which has been on my bucket list for a long time.

Finally got all the gages/lights working. Just got the factory tach operational today.

What did you do to get the tach to work?

Actually, I found the ignition coil hooked up backward. It had been converted to Electronic ignition at some point previous to my purchase. The coil negative was hooked to the ballast and start line. Positive was connected to the ignition module. The tach was hooked to coil negative but would not get any signal from the module. I initially thought the tach itself was bad and bought a new aftermarket tach. Hooked it up and it didn't work either. Put the AM tach on my 71 Cuda and it worked there. That's when I grabbed my multimeter and wiring diagram and the wire tracing began.

Car ran OK with it backward. I wouldn't have thought that. It has an MSD Blaster on it & the primary coil seems to be OK but I may buy a new one anyhow.

Ya really can't go by brochure or original add pics. For instance in the '69 Plymouth brochure, look at the big pic of the MODTOP......what do you notice? The interior is '68 pattern with MOD material!!!! Original color ad for '70 Plymouth's shows a '70 HEMI cuda in plum crazy with a plum crazy bubble SHAKER !!!!! Plum crazy shaker bubble was never available. These are all pre release pics/cars.
As i said you have to go by survivor cars or original pics of original cars. I showed 3 survivor cars and a pic of another in the early-mid '70s when my friend owned it.
Probably 20 years ago Galen told me that if the sport stripe was ordered, then the 340-S or 383-S emblem was replaced with the FISH........i've never seen that, only what i am showing...............BUT as we all know Chrysler.....never say never!!!!

I think Ma Mopar did this in various ways from what I can see. Seems though that if the stripe was present with the engine callout you wouldn't have the script callout on the fender. Maybe a fish in that spot.
