What's the deal with the Poly 318

Putting the water jacket issue aside why wouldn't I run these on a 360 block in my FED. I run with out water. I came over to Mopar from Ford Cleveland and I think the biggest disappointment with the LA is the heads. Are poly heads the answer?

Poor Chevrolet, between the 340 and 351 Cleveland, they didn't have a chance. The poly heads, in stock form, flow just below late 360 heads in intake flow and way behind X or J heads, about 30 to 40 cfm less. They flow better on the exhaust side than either. Ported potential, I don't know. I have always liked Poly engines.
