It so easy to make HP now days I think people get their eyes are bigger than their belly type thing. A lot of people thinking they need minimum 400 hp to have a fast car.
Not to long ago 5.0 l mustang was considered a hot car and that thing barely made 200 hp at the crank lol.
Id like to go big block in my 65 cuda but by time you rebuild it with an eddy top end and a decent cam your well over 500 hp without trying. You almost have to build 273/318 to keep it on the mild side.
some builds go long duration cam,big port heads,big carb etc which make an impressive hp number (at high rpm) but idle quality and lo rpm power can be disappointing without a gear and a converter.
Yep, I read about all the 12 second cars that guys have here.....it was not so easy 40 years ago. You couldn't buy heads flowing 240-250 cfm OOTB on your credit card. 14 seconds was pretty good then.....It so easy to make HP now days ....
