Hi everyone I was wondering what brand 750cfm carb I should go with? Holley, Edelbrock, Demon, etc.... What brand should I go with and why? All replys, suggestions, and opinions appreciated thanks. This is for a 360 im trying to make at least 350hp:burnout:

I actually have a Holley 750 HP I just took off the car. It's fully adjustable with front and rear metering blocks. Adjustable air bleeds and was built by BIGs carbs. I paid 800 and just want 450 and I'm in San Jose. Always welcome to come look at it

I like and tune/modify Holley/Demon carbs for racers and street/strip guys all over w/excellent results and don`t mess w/vacuum units, only double pumpers. A buddy Ray on Moparts runnered up at Drag Week w/a 1050 Dommy I did and even got 16+ mpg`s and my stock stroke 360 w/stock heads, a Demon 850 and a good Pettis valve job went 11.80`s at L.A.C.R.`s altitude track and was my daily driver for years...........

I am just used to Holleys so that is my totally un-objective vote LOL. BTW, a 670 will do fine for that HP level.

Is this for street or drag use? For street, a vacuum secondary will typically get you better gas mileage. If drag racing all or most of the time, the DP is the universal best choice.

If you are driving on the street and going after any semblance of mileage whatsoever, leave the Holley style carburetors on the shelf.

Exactly Dom. Plenty of old school, old wives tails that should have died a long time ago.

Our Demon 360 with an OOTB 750DP that got 20mpg on the highway. That carb probably had another couple MPG in it with proper circuit tuning. How you use your right foot plays the BIGGEST part in fuel economy, DP or VS.

Yup, I love Holley DP's. Used to build many of them for my buddies back in our hay days. Still will use an AFB or AVS on a numbers/show restoration. But much prefer the Holley.

I like Holley's but they do run rich just off idle/ cruise 20mph to 40mph. I think the vacuum street avengers or what ever holley called them are designed to be a little leaner at cruise.

Can`t stand the Avenger series carbs and recently took one off of a Rousch(sp) equipped Cobra replica w/500+ hp and the owner couldn`t be happier. Vacuum carbs suck and I never want a vac. signal controlling the enrichment on anything I build BUT, we`re not talkin jetting and p/v changes here the WHOLE carb needs to be calibrated from idle, transition, cruise and wide f#$%^n open. I drilled and tapped the idle and hi-speed bleeds and lowered the ifr`s and made it adjustable beyond "as delivered" from Holley........

Not the carbs fault, it was the wrong carb for the application. Very light car, high horsepower and likely a manual trans.

To the OP. All three work when the correct size and flavor, is used in the correct application, tuned properly and not worn out junk. I have used all 3, never had an issues when the above rules are uses. Most people have their "go to's" because its what they like, are used to, or have a stigma because they had the other brand and it "didn't work"

With that, we need more information, like intended use, transmission, vehicle weight, cam, converter, gears, etc. The more honest the answers the closer you'll get to the right ones.

my 360 runs 11.6 at 117 , runs good on the street, with a $100 1968 avs carter 750. I popped the cover off, drilled some jets, cleaned it and put it back together without buying a kit, 11 years ago

Again, whatever works for ya and almost ANYTHING can be made to work but I do what I do w/my results and you do what workz for you apparently. Try to tell my customers to switch to a vac. carb and it could get ugly........

I've run Holley's since I was just starting out in the late 70s and love them. They're super simple to tune and parts are abundant and easy to get. The only experience I've had with Eddy carbs was using one on a stock 305 Chevy to replace the faulty electronic Q-jet carb. It ran OK but I found tuning a little more tricky and wished I had used a Holley.

What ever carb you wanna run, the bottom line is a sharp tune and it will run really fine.
People like to split hairs and poke at your choice on carbs no matter what one you get. They all have there pros and cons.

Make your choice, stick with it, learn the carb. Sometimes, it's not easy.

I have run Holleys & Carters as well as there updated version from Edelbrock. The only carb I don't want to run is an AFB but I'll use an AVS in a heart beat flat. I would rather run a Holley double pumper than there vacuum secondary. Even though I have not had a problem with any carb, I just have my preference.

that!! 100x that!!!

I tend to lean to a holly. For most that aren't really good with carbs they tend to be more user friendly. However, the carter and edelbrocks are fine also. are you buying new, or have one on the shelf ? maybe a TQ ?? good luck

For a street/strip deal i'll take a Thermoquad. Small primaries large secondaries and solid fuel metering(who need emulsion) and cheap as chips.

First start: Educate yourself ,on carburetors ...There are seven circuits, learn what they are. After that,it should help your decision. (Just,an opine..you knowledge of this, will help you really understand carbs...)
Added: Both do the job (Holley & Edelbrock),well... Mild cruiser: Edelbrock/"Carter" (prefer the older Carter" Competition Series"....
Holley ,if it has a nasty cam(230@.050" or bigger,or a narrow lobe center...(108,or narrower) Just, learned opinion...

Had a 360 with a 256 @ .050 108 solid cam that i struggled to get the holley to idle on yet pulled out an 800AVS out of the box and threw it on and couldn't believe how well it idled and clean too!

Your mileage may vary though.

I have worked on them all and tuned them all at some level...... Hard to beat a Holley DP out the box IMO....

However I am a fan of Carter AFB's also. Find a good Thermoquad builder and they are a great piece too. In fact, the Duster I am getting ready to put back on the road has a TQ on it and will use it until the FI is installed.

At the end of the day it comes down to who is putting the wrenches on it. A stock HP out the box does great and the average person will be extremely happy with it.

If I was going to buy a new carb., it would definitely be a quickfuel .

Patrick seems to do a pretty good job of helping the customers.... Someone tried to throw him under the bus on Yellowbullet and that didn't go well and I think Patrick handled it immensely well considering that crowd lol.

I am local to AED and that would be my first pick just because I support local business and if there is a problem they are at my back door. Those Holley HP's do amazingly well out of the box and have seen it a few times on dynos. It won't matter to someone who really knows how to tune Carburetors but not everyone has that knowledge or knows someone who can make them work for their combination.

3 wks go by and where is OP?

You didn't mention what your intended usage was/is, nor why 350hp is your target. For all I can guess, a big 2bbl would fill the bill...................

Do you need 350 or just want 350? And what's magical about the 350?
And what's the foundation under the carb?
Are you familiar with carbs at all? and what is your skill level?
Do you need 350 at 3000rpm or 4000 rpm or 5000?
Or are you just looking to blow thru the tires at every stoplight?
So many questions; At this point;flip a coin.
