Slant to 318 Swap My Parts List / Whats missing?

Unsure at this point. Picking up the engine this weekend. It was in a 73 Dart, so I'm hoping all will coordinate well with the Radiator(which I don't have yet) But will make sure jives with your comments above. Thank you !! I was told that the engine is from somewhere between 1976-1984 if that helps determine it.

If it's from 76-84, then it should have the aluminum water pump and timing marks on the Driver's side.

Get a timing chain cover, timing marks (separate if not on cover) on passenger side, and cast iron water pump with a 64-66 v-8 radiator and then everything will hook up as if it were a factory 273 car including radiator hoses. Any timing cover from 64-69 will have the timing marks on the passenger side or the tab that bolts to the two bottom bolts of the cast iron water pump.

Just find TDC on the crank and make a new mark on the original 318 vibration damper to line up with the early timing marks on the passenger side.

You will also need to find the old style pulleys. If you don't have a/c, then use a single groove alternator pulley so the belt lines up properly.

So basically, find a 273 and strip the whole front of the engine to the block to get the pulleys, water pump, and timing covers. Then go to the parts store and order belts and hoses for your year car with a factory 273.
