need headers

Well my nickel plated TTIs have been on my car since 99. I paid about $500Can back then(plus shipping). So 500/16 = $31Can per year. But the attaching hardware has never backed off, and the header gakets have never leaked, and they don't sound like those cheapies,. and the only rust through I have had is right on top in the merge area; and that's probably my fault for taking them through at least 4 Manitoba winters as a DD.
So if you can take a cheapie set through 4 years you will break even in cash outlay. But you will probably need to buy 1 or 2 sets of manifold gaskets, several sets of flange gaskets,And you will be retorquing the top bolts fairly regularly. The cheap sets often/usually have one or more pipes that go under the centerlink, and so will get smashed on nearly every speed bump you encounter. Sooner than later, the cheapie will start to suck air from a rusted out merge area, requiring removal to repair. And the metal is so thin, well, it is a PITA. So even though the initial outlay will be less, and cost per year may break even;the total cost including; gaskets, lost bolts, repairs, and time, well, you get it.
Now I agree that todays cost of those TTIs is out there, And I will not buy another set for that reason.I would possibly, maybe , most likely , buy a lower priced under chassis set. But then I'm pushing 63 now, so I probably don't need them to last another 16 years.heehee.
