In my opinion they are, but not so much better that it offsets the cost of them in most cases.
You can replace a cheaper box a lot easier than an expensive one.

My Brother used to buy $100+ tennis shoes and tell me that they lasted him about a year, but then I told him he could have brand new shoes four times a year for that same money.
