Chrysler 200 owners?

-
haven`t driven an all wheel drive fusion. wife has an all wheel mercury. she works at avis rent a car, and we drive a lot of diff. vehicles due to her getting them free, 3 weeks a yr.
we had a 2014 charger for a week, right before the fusion for a week. no comparison, the fusion felt cheap as hell to both of us! jfyi

There is a reason for that. The Charger weighs a lot more than the Fusion, has either a 6 or 8 cyl. motor (as compared to the Ford 4cyl./turbo), and it is RWD. It's a big, heavy luxury/performance car and is not your basic middle of the road family car. The Fusion is just that. They cost less to buy, and cost less to run too.

While not 100% accurate, the government fuel economy standards are quite useful when comparing one car to another. I can tell you that their numbers are right on the money as regards my AWD Fusion.

2016 Ford Fusion AWD 2.0 L, 4 cyl, Automatic (S6), Turbo, Regular Gasoline: 22 city, 25 combined, 31 highway.

2016 Chrysler 200 AWD 3.6 L, 6 cyl, Automatic 9-spd, Regular Gasoline or E85:18 city, 22 combined, 29 highway.

2016 Chrysler 200 3.6 L, 6 cyl, Automatic 9-spd, Regular Gasoline or E85 : 19 city, 23 combined, 32 highway.

2015 Dodge Charger AWD 3.6 L, 6 cyl, Automatic 8-spd, Regular Gasoline: 18 city, 21 combined, 27 highway.

2016 Dodge Charger 6.4 L, 8 cyl, Automatic 8-spd, Premium Gasoline: 15 city, 18 combined, 25 highway.

If gas mileage is a concern I would look more towards the Dart.
My wife has one for a daily driver 4 cyl turbo 6-speed.
The little sob almost makes gas, she averages 38 mpg around town.
We looked at a 200 in the show room when we bought hers, but she wanted a stick shift.
Its not a bad car, I gave less than 20K for it new.

I also have a challenger, 5.7 6-speed, it is scary on a wet road, you have to drive like there is a egg under the gas petal.

We have a 2015 AWD v6 and its fully loaded. My wife says it a nice car and it get about 26mpg average. I think it rides and handles great.

We bought a 2015 200S v6 FWD back in July of 2014. We have 25K on it now and love it. My only real requirement was the biggest motor I could get and a sport suppension, so I looked at most every available 4 door sedan at the time. In the end we liked the 200 best and I couldn't beat the price.

I will say it is not just an oversized Dart. Might be the same chassis, but it is a much nicer ride. We do have a rattle when the wind is blowing across the car from right to left, but I think it is due to damage from a huge puddle I hit last summer, not a build issue (dealer can't locate it to fix it, but we haven't had it in since we figured out the wind connection). Other than that is is quiet and comfortable. We've also had an issue once with the car not coming out of park, but that might be related to a park rod recall we had done shortly before the issue, and it has never come back. Had the transmission flashed once and it seems to work fine, but I'm not overly critical of it so others might wish it worked better. I do wish the paddle shifters reacted faster, I can't seems to catch 2nd before hitting the rev limiter and it doesn't feel like a stick when I try to pretend. :) But it's not like it is a real sports car, even if it runs hard and handles well, so expecting the paddle shifters to react like a Porsche PDK setup is unrealistic.

I love the v6. Couldn't be more pleased with that. I think the I4 would be disappointing. But just a guess, never drove one.

One thought on the Fusion...I've heard of issues with the DFI since there isn't a fuel spray to clean the back of the intake valves. I guess they carbon up and the only solution is to pull the cylinder head. Maybe they have fixed it, just a thought.

My Mom has a Fusion and loves it, but I really haven't done much more than ride in the back seat once. I will say that entering and exiting the Fusion back seat seems easier, but I don't ride in the back of my 200 either.

I do wish we had gotten some of the higher end options (seat memory and auto unlock on the passenger side door being high on the list), but I love the car.

:D Thx !!!

Well guys, I went to the dealer today and test drove a 2.4 and 3.6 200. The 2.4 really isn't bad for a 4 banger but I DEFINITELY want a V6, those things are a BLAST!!! I was very impressed with the cars! They ride great, are loaded with options, get better mph than our current good vehicle (wifes 04 V6 mudstain) and has WAY more power than the mustang! The V6 I drove had the paddle shifters and tho I probably wouldn't use em that often they're nice to have!

Well, my wife's in Florida till next Tuesday night so after she's back we're gonna go into the dealer and see if we can find a 15 200S or C in red with the "titanium" interior, and loaded. Preferably a panoramic sunroof but any sunroof will do. Also, is it worth the extra money for AWD? I read an article proving AWD isn't any better than a FWD with all season tires but we don't get much snow anyway, I'd mainly want the AWD for performance not because of snow. So is it worth the extra cost?

That is a nice looking car. hopefully you will find one in that combo. I don't think it would be worth the extra for the awd.

My Dad bought my mom a awd 200 in late 2014 (car is a 15) It's dark blue, loaded with the V6 and she loves it. At first she thought it drove like quite a bit heavier car than it looks but as time passed she got use to it. Most of the driving she does is highway as they live on a small acreage but the car usually does 30mpg. No problems so far but only has 12km or 7000 miles.

The AWD is supposed to send something like 60% of the power to the rear wheels, making it feel (in theory) more like an RWD car. Never drove one, so I can't say if it works.

I do know it adds about 400# to the car, too.

Looks like the dealer found 2 identical cars with all the options we wanted!! Goin in tmrw to see about payments and stuff! Both cars are AWD so looks like we'll probably be getting AWD whether we want it or not. I did learn something today about the AWD system tho, they're FWD only under normal conditions but as soon as the front tires slip (or I'm guessing if it's put in sport mode) the AWD kicks in. With it working like this it really doesn't affect mpg any.

Congrats, I can only imagine owning a brand-new car! It looks great in that color. Hope you love owning it, please update the thread into the future so we can see how you like it long-term.

Only complaint I have so far is the fact that the fuel door is on the passenger side!!! :banghead: the mustang is like that and we were really hoping it'd be on the drivers side with this car.

I have a friend that works at the Belvidere plant, where Darts are made. I was asking him about the darts and 200s. He said they were completely different chassis with the 200 being about 3 or 4 inches longer.
