I have a 68 Dart GT with the headrests that have the chrome band around them. I just picked up a 70 Dart with the same headrests. I'm parting a 69 Dart and it has very different ones. No chrome band and a lot thicker. Are these 69 specific or model specific or did they change to the different ones in 69 and my 70 just has the wrong ones?

i think gt and gts had the deluxe oval style with chrome band and the standard and swinger models had the plain pillow type...at least that is what i have seen.
...someone must know for sure.

My dad had a 69 barracuda & my uncle had one too. One had deluxe interior & the other standard. They both had the same head rest.

Do you remember which ones they had, chrome band ones or pillow?

Don't know about Darts, but here's what those in My 69 Valiant look like.

I have had several 67 to 73 A-bodies.Darts and Barracudas only. Only the 69 ups had headrests. Most were bucket seats. The 69s all had the same style mini headrests. The 69-340Formula S, and the 69-Cuda340,and the 69slanty, and IIRC the 70-Swinger340, and the 70-Duster340, and the 71-Demon 318;all same style. I cannot recall if any had the chrome band, although I have seen them. The 73-Dart teener had a different shape, but not like the pillows shown.

My 67 cuda has factory buckets n headrests. Different style than my 69 barracuda with factory buckets n head rests (oval and chrome band)

My dad had ordered new cars in 67 & 69. He told me in 67 & 68 they were an option. In 69 they were standard.

1968 - mid 1969 model year they were optional & you could specify either side (single) or both sides.

From Jan 1, 1969 on they were standard equipment.
