If I were 20 again, I'd just do it. But at 40+ I don't know if I am up for the gamble. It's been mostly garaged all its life. It's a solid little ex daily driver with 90k on the clock. Slant 6 auto. Who here would spend the $700 and just meet the truck driver and who here would get in and go with 0 tools. Fly in and drive home. That's the deal. Go!

drive it , its got points, no electronics , and theres an auto zone just about any place

FedEx a tool kit to be waiting on you when you get there. Keep the extra $700 bucks in your pocket and live a little.

Dang Ben. I think you are right. I have a place there where I am change and check fluid. Grab some jumper cables locally and take a jug of water and a jug of gas and go on with it. Don't talk me into it. Haha I'm seriously thinking I can do it again. Used to do it a lot and don't remember getting stuck for long.

C'mon!!! Do it. Post pics. Tell the story. Let us live vicariously. And if anything bad happens, post up on here, one of us will come get you. There's helpful FABO-ians everywhere...

And Youngun2.0 is right. Harbor Freight could hook you up on the cheap..

I flew in and drove my 65 Dart home, 400 miles, no issues. It was an eBay purchase and I didn't get to see the car beforehand. I did take some tools with me and these are simple cars.

On the other hand...you could easily spend 200 on gas and fluids. If airfare is another $200, that cuts your savings to $300. A breakdown and a tow and you're upside down. Are you taking time off work? What value do you put on your time?

How long since it's been on the road?

where is the car located? this way if you post, some of us can give you contact numbers. I have a trailer that can pick you up, etc.

please be advised of the weather for snow if coming north!!!

The voice of reason!! (and 100% correct, I might add). But where's the adventure in that? I say go for the adventure..

Do it!!!!!!

I love a road trip. I bought my 62 Belvedere sight unseen 10+ years ago. Flew out to Albuquerque with my Mom, bought the car (she was a distant relative, but couldn't drive anymore), gave it the once over and we were off. Drove back I 40 and toured a bit of old Route 66. Great time that I will never forget. Only issue I encountered was a loose connection at the starter that gave us an OH CRAP moment lol. And a wiper unassed itself.

Besides, get there and buy some tools for the ride, just in case. Everyone needs more tools and I'm sure there is a Harbor Freight nearby:)

Well I would be south of the nasty stuff. Not going that direction for sure. If I break down or break a driveshaft or something "big", I'm upside down money wise. I don't have to be anywhere for a week or so... So the time thing isn't a big deal right now. The timing is right to buy and try... Might be fun if I make it! Not much a 7/16,1/2,9/16, screwdriver can't fix. That's for sure. I need to verify that I'm picking it up. 99% I'm going to. So it's decision time. Perhaps there are enough members but I hate to burdon people.

I am looking at a 68 Valiant in Indiana and I live in TN too. I would drive it back in a heartbeat.

In mid November me and the wife flew from wa state to Denver Colorado to get a 37 foot diesel pusher motor home ,2480 miles it was all seat of the pants adventure and was the most fun we have had in years. Go for it! Nw dart
