can fit 1970 A arms , LCA and brake setup ? Is there a way to tell which k member I have if I post pictures of it ?
The only things attached are Torsion bars LCA upper control arm , spindle and brakes , seems to be SBP rotors , but k-member has the openings underneath , unlike my 70 k member which is closed underneath . Will try to get pictures . 73 k member with 70 brakes and control arms ?

Yes, the motor mounts are biscutt type on 1972 back and spool type on 1973 up.

Here's a picture of a 73 and up V8 K-member.

If you want to run the 73 k member you'll need the LCA from the 73+ in order for you to bolt the sway bar up. If I'm not mistaken you'll also need the steering linkage to from the 73+ as well. You can use the 70 brakes, spindle and 70 UCA, if you don't want to convert to the BBP

No, you can use the whole package off a 72 back K-Frame on a 73 up K-Frame. This is a common swap off a /6 or V8 pre 73 when you want to use a later spool V8 type K-Frame.

So the 73 k frame can be used on a 1970 with all 1970 parts except motor mounts ?
Center link pitman arm and all the rest from 1970 will work , what about the 1970 style sway bar ?
Just wondering why my parts 1970 H-340 Dart has a 73 K-frame as it is an original 340 v-8 car .

Yes, the naked K-Frame can be used with as long as you use all the pre 73 parts if you have a sway bar. If you have no sway bar then the LCAs are the same and can remain on the 73 up K-Frame.

Does you K-Frame have the washer welded to the front of it?

Why would a 73 k be in an original 70 v8 car? The spool motor mounts won't let the motor flop around if a mount fails.

FWIW, i had a 73 318 Dart parts car. Initially i used the upper control arms and spindles for a disk brake swap into my 68 Barracuda. I then used the K for a 360 swap in place of the /6. I never touched the 68 steering. A couple of years agoni swapped in power steering and used 73 steering so i could use the power box from the 73.

The early sway bar that goes around the K will go around either open or closed K.
You would need to use the lower arms that go with that bar since their end link tabs are in the correct position. There wouldn't be any conflicts with the K-H small SBP 4 piston brake calipers either.

all you need to know http://www.engine-swaps.com/Pages/ProductsType/K-Frames.html

So whats the big differance between a /6 kframe and a v-8 k frame, the one pictured looks simular to my ine after i modified it for the 360. It used to have a /6 225 in it

just wondering , Bob

a quick mockup with my 340 in a 67 dart with 73 k frame

i quickly set a brake booster and master cylinder on to the firewall and it seemed like they would not fit. I took the 340 out to do major body work. So i cant check again till later.

Doner Car: 1973 Dodge Dart with 44 and 727 trans

Build Car: 1971 Dodge Dart with Slant 6

Question: Car I drop the 1973 Engine, Trans and K frame from Donner car and bolt it right up to the 71?

You need to use the 73-6 center link, each k frame had their own. The 68-72,the 73-6 and 67 center links are specific to each grouped k frame.

You can use any center link as long as you use the same vintage idler arm and pitman arm. The 67 was unique because of the way the idler arm mounted to the K frame.

When I swapped from /6 to the 360 in my 68 I used a 73 spool mount k-frame with the 68 idler, center link and pitman. Later when I converted to power steering I used the 73 steering box that has a larger shaft and I used a 73 pitman, center link and idler.
