It’s a cool summer evening...

Awesome story!!

Yeah watch out for those sleepers!

I came across a guy in his Malibu Wagon, I was looking to go to a burger joint to get some food. And here he comes in a Bahama blue wagon right next to me at a stop light and at the time I was driving my Duster with my wife and (then) 2 yr old boy. He revved his motor, I waved at him and he gave me a thumbs up. My wife looked at me and said "Don't you even think about it!" I looked at the guy, shook my head no and pointed to my wife, he nodded in acknowledgement and zoomed off when the light turned green.
I eventually ended up behind a WRX and the guy in the old wagon ended up being next to him at the next light.
The kid in the WRX then proceeded to rev his motor at the old wagon...
I then noticed the rear of the wagon, it had some pretty wide tires (that were tucked in quite nicely) and what looked like a pretty beefy rear (couldn't get a good look) He had a healthy exhaust sound but it was pretty moderate in tone... Until he revved his motor and it came to life! (Even scared my wife)
Light turns green, in a puff of smoke that old wagon hauled! With in a few seconds he was already 3 car lengths ahead of the WRX.
I actually caught up to the guy when I pulled in to a In N' Out Burger. Me and him talked quite a awhile. Apparently he once had an Impala SS with a 427 in it (all original, I'm guessing it was quite rare?) until his brother totaled it by wrapping it around a tree because he was drunk. He saved the engine, put new pistons, heads, cams, everything he bored it 30 over. Then his father passed away and he ended up getting the wagon (It was supposed to be his brothers).
He figured he would put the motor in it and turn it into a really hot cruiser. He then decided to take it up another notch and make it into a sleeper.
At first he was going to paint it the "Griswold" green with wood trim, but then settled on the blue. (good thing)
Really nice guy.
