Does anybody make a replacement bulkhead connector with pigtails coming off that we can use to replace our old original ones??? Names, links.... :evil3:

Or do I have to find a good used one to splice into??? :violent1:

We're wiring our 71 Valiant and one of the bulkhead connectors for the engine compartment is melted and broken... :banghead:

You'll likely have to buy the connector and put together whatever pigtails you require.

Yes, but I have only seen them as part of a full "engine" or "lamps" harness (~$200 Year One). Your year has 3 connectors, each w/ different "key". I think they stayed the same over the years. Forget the pigtail approach. That would be unprofessional and add problems. You just need the plastic housing, and make sure you know which one before going to the junkyard or buying on ebay then fussing at the seller. I know A-bodies are getting rare, but I recall seeing these same bulkheads on some 80-90's Dodge motorhomes and vans (some had 4 connectors).

The male terminals are easily removed. Search for photos of "56 terminal" (some here) to see how they release. If you first pry the black foam seal out you will see. Squeeze longitudinally at the bottom w/ needle-nose to compress the "latch" and wiggle it out, similar to removing a fish hook. Would be smart to sand each one bright and coat w/ silicone grease before you re-install. You can buy new terminals on ebay, if any are bad or the wire needs replacing. You can also remove the female terminals on the cabin side, using a thin flat screwdriver or such to push in the latch as you wiggle.

The connectors and terminals are available. Was looking into it a while ago.

Just bought and installed a new bulkhead unit (the one in the firewall) from Dante. it was a spot on reproduction. The connectors were easy to clean and move over, except for the two main wires which were melted into the old bulkhead connector. One fused with the adjacent wire to the backup lights so that every time I turned the key on I had backup lights on all the time. That's what I got from a 95 amp alternator and an intermittent voltage regulator problem. for some reason the product is not on their web site but somebody here clued me in and I called to get it.

I think I have 2 different bulk head connectors in the garage. Shoot me the numbers of the one you need and I'll check mine to see if it matches up.
