Checked Off a Bucket List Item: Barrett Jackson

This week I had the opportunity to check off an item from my bucket list: a trip to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale for the collector car auction. While it might not seem like a big deal to everyone, when you live on the East Coast and collector cars course through your blood, it is a big deal. The best part about it was I got to do it as a part of my job. My organization--Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA)--auctioned off a car for our charity. I had the opportunity to hang out with Brad Keselowski because the car was one of his Blue Deuce Dodge's (the Dodge part makes it even sweeter) from his championship season in 2012. The car was donated to PVA by the Damon Family Foundation. In the end, we raised $160,000 and we got some good exposure on live TV. It was really an amazing experience. And best of all, I got to watch it all happen from the top of the auction block. Here are just a few pics from the event.

Was hanging out with BK when Joey Logano just happened to walk up. Apparently he was there shopping.

Coming onto the block. Only serious bidders and special guests allowed through this point.

The view looking down over the auction block. This was the most amazing part of the whole experience. Several of our PVA members are sitting just in front of the car on the block.

Celebrating a good sale with the winning bidders (couple in the back) who happened to be Dodge dealers from Austin, TX, as well as BK and Craig Jackson.

Since I will almost surely never get the VIP experience like this again, this was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.
