When I first got my Dart, a guy I work with had a 4 barrel intake for sale he said would work on my car.

My car is a stock 318, my first question is will this intake work on my car?

Here is a pic of it.

The part number

A pic of the stock set up

I noticed that the barrel intake does not have a spot for a few things my stock one does, I haven't messed around with intakes or carbs too much so i'm not sure what these items are, and if they are needed after going to the 4 barrel.

Please hook me up with some info.

It will work, but it's a single plane intake and a dual plane is better for street driving...

That looks like a later 273 manifold. The choke well is there and the temp sensor is there. Are you keeping the AC? I don't see any problems with using it.

In West Virginia do you really need a choke? How cold does it down there?

Very! Not a hot Southern state. Will also get Great Lake effect snow.

That intake may not for properly because as said above, an earlier V8 intake. It has odd bolt angles. I did t run the numbers but it does look like an early 273.

The choke style is different than the 2 HBO. Set up you have.

The wire for the temp sender is in a different location and the other thing may not have a provision at all but just look where else it may go in the manifold.

What are the operational/ performance differences between the two manifolds ?
Yote

Dual plane intakes pull stronger off the line and mid range.

Single plane are better in the mid and top end range.

Read and heed. Rumble usually knows his stuff. The early 273 mating surfaces at the heads and intake were DIFFERENT from later models. You cannot put an early intake on later heads and vise versa.

As a "360 degree" or single plane intake, that would not be the best choice. I would spend some time on your local Craigslist. I've got two Edelbrock manifolds I bought off CL for about 89 bucks, one is a Performer which is a great manifold.

Isn't it curious that the little engine that really needed some low end guts ended up getting a single plane intake? I had a 70 Fury with a 318 that also had a single plane iron intake. I'd love to hear from a Chrysler engineer what they were thinking back then.

glad i posted this up, would of been a real bummer if i had it tore apart to find out it wont work.

Could b a marine intake

You are correct, it's marine. Other than being on the heavy side it will work fine on your 318. You might have to adjust the floats in the the carb though because it will sit tilted forward a little.

Thanks. High praise. Thank you. Normally I do OK. This intake did have me wondering as I looked at it. And now I know why.

Normally I agree, but not all single planes are created equal or perform the same as some are chit and others are a show case of excellence for there intended purpose...
and so I leave this shameless plug link, please read for your information and knowledge.
No purchase required, LMAO!

It is also a 1965 intake which has smaller bolt holes and at a different angle than 66 and newer intakes. Don't use this intake. There are many other intakes that will work better without modification for you. Rob has a good suggestion.

Del...the early intakes only have a different bolt size and angle...the head/intake mating surfaces are the same.

...and yes, it appears to be a marine intake.

Here's an '65 marine intake moper had for sale a while ago.....same number....

My book says 69 340 Marine, so should work. Does it have large or small ports?
