Where can I find a set of shorty headers for my 74 swinger with P/Steering, P/Brakes that will fit with out hassle? Also some that wont break the bank. I have long tube headers I bought from summit but I don't know if I wanna have to hassle them in. the Engine is out for the 360 swap. might be easier

Bob Mazolinis he is a Socal Mopar racer from the sixties, Nice guy and ships quickly.

The headman's need a bunch of additional labor to get them to fit. And then they are thin flanged and will not last as long as TTI's. I know someone with a 71 B-body that replaced his Hedmans after 60K miles. They had already been taken out and brazed to fill leaks once. And the replacement headmans did not have the outlet flange in the same position. So the car had to be towed to a very good muffler shop to reposition the headpipe flange.

Search here on FABO to find threads and pics on the additional headpipe work (muffler shop) to fit the headmans.

I think the Sandersons are better quality, but I don't think they fit all of what you require. I don't think they sell headpipes to fit with them either.

So really TTI is the best choice. I know they are expensive, but when you factor the additional work of the other two they might be the same net cost.

I've got a pair of Sandersons coming my way in the next week or two.
My '73 Dart has power brakes and power steering, although it's a Borgeson unit.

I've read about steeringcoupler clearance-issues so I fully expect having to work on a tube to get it to fit.

I have the Sanderson DD7 headers on a 72 Dart, there is a problem clearing the rag joint but can be done without beating in the headers with a Flaming River steering coupler. They were pretty much laying against the steering and in my case you would have to beat that tube flat to get enough clearance. Or maybe your getting the DD8? I though they might have fixed that problem with the new design.

You'll spend more time in fab, nut up and get Doug's 453 FTW.

The secret to long tubes:

Pull the steering column, unbolt the steering box and move it to the shock tower, jack up the car as high as possible and slip them in. Works great! No unbolting the engine BS.

I'm getting the DD7-P.
I decided to get the (-P) plain steel versions mainly because I'm expecting having to work on it. I'll try to coat it with ceramic paint after I'm done and hope the it lasts.

My '73 Dart doesn't have a rag-joint but I'm not scared of having to cut and reweld a tube if there's contact.

I didn't want to buy full length headers because my car is lower then stock and most of the (affordable) headers I've seen already hang too low for my taste.

Considering that OP´s engine is already out,i think he can ignore your whole bs post and just lay the headers in the enginecompartment, tied to the fenders before installing the engine.:violent1:

As for the Hedmans i would stay away from them, the collectors are in a realy stupid location.

a diffferent option that most dont seem to know about is this one:

I know the OP is asking about shortys but i think these are an excelent option!

Just broke down a 440, the engine came in a 73 dart, some body cobbled this together with whatever they had. Not to say I have never been there before. The engine was balanced, a set of 452,s cut way down, a purple cam#960002 stamped on end of rear journal I cant seem to find specs for the cam. The pistons were installed upside down, the front arrows pointing to the bell housing. Piston # L 2355 .040 over. Why? I don't think the gain here would be enough to even do this. I thought I would put this subject out there to chew on. This engine will be a weekend driver, with a sonoramic setup on top. had to cut the right fenderwell for a fit. used an O Riely alterkation kit in the front, wilwood brakes. Flaming river rack an pinion. I am looking for sum cast exhaust manifolds, the factory ones are beyond my price range. The hi po factory ones are to tall they hit the left side ram. So now I need a recommendation for an exhaust manifold. There lots of them out there.
Thanks

we are looking for headers for 73 duster 318 but we are poor folk. theres a company on e-bay called dna with stainless shorties that look like they couldn't possibly work for $150 something, guy says they work. i say i'm gonna ship them right back to you if they don't. any one know about those?
