brake pads won't fit

-
Hey all,
This is seriously stressing me out. I'm trying to replace the brakes and the rotors on my 73 plymouth duster. Discs up front and drums in the rear. I've got the cylinder pushed back as far as it will go but I need like 2mm more space to get these pads on. Has anyone else had this problem? can I sand down the pads a little? The new ones look the same as the old ones.

Your brakes are designed and made by Bendex. Do they not still make the parts?

If this happened to me I would hit the brake pedal with two real short strokes and push the pistons back in again and see what happens.

Is the problem the same on both sides, or have you tried that yet?

Heyyyyy ...,someone remembers a basic rack brake inspection. This type of knowledge, needs to be taught to more D.I.Y.'ers....

Thanks man, it was worth a shot. All my brake parts were the parent company replacement parts, so fitment was never an issue.

Yeah Rob,I know..(sigh)... Still like Bendix products, just no one not paying attention to 40 year old produc numbers anymore( other than specialist houses).

I would have thought the first thing to do is measure the brake disc with some calipers and compare to specs?

Same thing happened to me. ....new rotors, calipers and shoes.....all NAPA parts.
Had to sand 1 pad....

I didn't worry too much about it. ....

Brakes work awesome now!

:burnout:
