I drug home a 67 Bel 1, repaired rear qtr with the only patches available, pretty sorry stuff. I never had one, but seems like years ago I saw a tool that will mold to the body curve to help get the curve right with filler. weems like it was made of a foam? type material? anyone one know what i'm talking about and where to find one. I looked under auto body tool and eastwood and did not see anything.
I need t make that rounded curve on the rear qtr decent! I m not good with filler and curves i admit!!!!!!

no not really. pic something that you can conform to that body curve, laying it against the side of the panel till it conforms to its shape. if you were using a French wheel to make that panel with that curve, this thing will tell you when its right.
i', just trying to get my gtr curve where it should be with a GOOD patch panel, NOONE makes a good patch for the 66-7 b body!!!!!!
if I was a REAL bodyman man, it cold be made 95% good easily, but I admit not being very talented with this. I might have to get it close as I can, and go beg one of the body guys closeby to make it O K!!!!!!

I made a collection of blocks out of schedule 80 PVC pipe and glued high density foam to them. You need to block sand in a X pattern and you can not push down. Once you think you are close a guide coat will let you check your work.

I think something like this is what you are looking for.

yes that's it! profile gauge. since my body filler skills have not sharpened much in the last 30 odd years! I figure I really need this. it would help me see if i'm close enough or need more work. I realize IF I were a bodyman, I could just run my hand over the curve with eyes closed and know BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....

thanks for the help. I looked up Eastwood before and could not find this critter!! I knew I had seen it some where years ago! that belvedere's sides curve concave and convex!!!!! and the repop sheet metal for it " lacks" is the polite word!!!!
