I love these cars. I have restored many Mopars in my life but when I decided to build my own....the way Hurst built them, I was all in. Here is my toy. LO23 clone.. I did everything I could to make it original looking but very drivable. 472, aluminum heads, 11 to 1 compression, auto with 3:55 gears. The side glass is there, mirror delete, seat belt window regs, battery, shifter, seats and brackets. I wanted to enjoy this car. It's has been up and running for 5 years now with no signs of slowing down.

I hope this thread keeps going. Many people have no idea these cars were ever built. Half the time I'm explaining to people what the car is and yes, they did leave the factory this way.

Thanks for everything, Troy
That is way COOL!!!!

Today marks the day Plymouth announces the Barracuda BO29 Super Stock drag racing package!!!!!

The new layout to the Web site is coming, hopefully this will be a forums
So we will be able to post all kinks of topics like what people already are posting about on this post and waiting to post on the new forum.

Wish I would have had more time when I was in Phoenix yesterday. I drove to Chino Valley and dropped this off, soon to be running at Mopars at the Strip...

Hello everybody. Wanted to share a little info with you guys that I found interesting.

I have a recreation 1968 Hemi Dart. It's a real accurate clone down to heater and radio delete....no undercoating or seam sealer......no window regulators.......correct A100 seats and seat brackets.......fiberglass fenders and hood.......correct steel wheels and bias ply tires......She has the correct magnesium intake.....8 3/4 and a 727 trans.

Here are the things I don't have......thin front and rear bumpers.......thin doors and the real thin glass. I have thin glass but not as thin as the original Corning glass. I would bet what I have is within 10 lbs of the original Corning glass.

Now I do have Aluminum Hemi heads.....I believe that is about an 90lbs difference compared to iron heads.

Here is a few picture of the car.

I was very shocked and very pleased with what I saw. I have seen full tilt race cars that don't have numbers like this.

All of these weights are with no driver.

Overall weight......3209lbs
Front weight.........55.7%
Rear weight..........44.3%
Left to right front, within 8lbs
Left to right rear.....61lbs heavy on the passengers side. I have the factory 90lbs battery and tray in the trunk.

Here is what I got with my fat but in the driver seat. Again very happy with what I saw!!

Total.........3400lbs
42lbs heavy on the drivers front.
4 lbs heavy on the drivers rear.
55.4% on the front.
44.6% in the rear.

My conclusion.....I will bet you when these cars were new and the engine was tuned in I'll bet you that it did not take much to get these cars going down the track very nicely.

Keep this in mind, I have done no torsion bar adjustments....no leaf spring shimming...nothing at all to get these numbers.

Hope this helps.

Your Dart is mind blowing. So over the top. You are a Hemi cloning God.
Were you in close proximity of a true SS while building your Dart?

I'd be interested in a forum like that. Someday I'd like to build my 67 Dart similar to the way the 68 & 69 Darts were built. It would be a great place to gather information.

Thank you very much!

I have followed these cars for well over 25 years. I have talked to original owners and have seen many original cars. As soon as I thought I new these cars.....new info comes along. There was no consisity to these cars. I think that is what is so much fun about these cars!!! LOL!!

Thanks again, Troy

PS....I like these cars so much I'm now getting the parts together to build a Barracuda clone. I want bookends. LOL!!:angel8:

What does the Authenticity Guide by Jim Sheild say was head project engineer Bob Torozzi's target and actual weigh for these cars as delivered?

BTW, here's the Intercomp digital 4 corner scale setup if anyone is curious.

Guide states target of around 3000 ended up about 3150 with approximately 52% front weight distribution.
