Wouldn't dye or any chemical compromise the integrity of the belt? I know that with baby car seats, you're NEVER supposed to do anything like this or even wash them in a washing machine.
x2 This is what they preach in I-CAR collision training, along with trash them if they have any nicks/broken stitching or abrasion anywhere, but.......
