So, I have a 1970 Dart Custom that I am building with a 383, 727, and 8 3/4... The question is: should I
1. make it sort of a swinger "clone", with Swinger emblems n such
2. make it like original and be a Dart Custom with altered powertrain
3. just keep it clean with no emblems, or badges, or chrome, or vinyl
?????
What do you guys think? My Dad says that Dart Customs are undesirable, but that's what it is! I really don't particularly care for the swinger emblem but it doesn't bother me, and Dart Custom is ok with me, but I also wouldn't mind a clean look, either...
Opinions????
Information????

I vote keep the body and interior true to its breeding and update the powertrain with the biggest honkin engine you desire. they call them sleepers.

its your car, build it however you want
(why not put some nova badges on there, that's what 90% of the people will call it anyway)

x2

Stock looking from the outside but when you hammer it....bwahahahaha

I would do a swinger clone .....everyone wants a high impact colored Swinger and you know you want one too!!! :):):)

we sometimes feel guilty for changing things around, but by virtue of asking means you want a swinger. :):)

I'm for the clean look. Deleted everything off mine.

If you like talking to people ,leave all the emblems off and they will ask you all day-"What kinda car is that?" . If they see the "Swinger" emblems they say"Austin Powers-Oy'm a swinga Baby,yeh....!" Finally if you put the "Custom" badges back on,you are true to it's heritage-and definitely making it "customized" by putting a 383 in it.

Your car, your decision. I originally did mine all clean & shaved. If I did it again,I would clone the Swinger model.

yup! :) That's the one! looks quite different in different lights...
Mine is painted with water base, and a high solids clear over the top. I don't think its dark enough, but its to late now. My swinger is a painted top car. When I picked up the car it was painted all gold, and when I uncovered the original color combo with the painted top, my mind was made up and it had to go back to that color

Here is my Dart Custom(1969). I kept the look and replaced everything from the rear leafs to the radiator. And kept the V8 emblem on the front fenders just to keep em guessing. I think its very desirable to me. Go your own way.
