How to make torque boxes

I'm all for doing things yourself and I'm no structural engineer, but I'll be a critic here and say I don't think the way the plates are installed do any good in reinforcing the area.

The plates/boxes imo should've been installed more upwards, as from the bottom of frame up to where the floorboard and inner rocker panel connect. That way, by proper triangulation, it will really firm up those areas and help handle the forces of the body to the frame better.

I have to agree, the premade ones I was contemplating have sections folded up that would be welded to the floor. Effectively turning the area into a forward boxed section and a boxed section on the rear. Not sure adding a single plane piece would add much strength.

its been decades since I have owned a b or E hemi car or vert, how were they made OEM!??? that's the answer......

I don't know a thing about it. But this thread here has some what is supposed to be OEM photos from AutoXcuda
