GM put a power steering cooler under some of their fwd cars. I never saw 1 damaged by road hazard but... its surface area was just 6X10 at most. Good luck
They have been back there for over a year and still look new. I only drive the car on nice days and never sees any sort of road hazards. I think they will survive just fine. Time will tell though.
