Left for Dead 68 Barracuda Buildup

-
I'm new here, but have enjoyed checking out your build. I have a '68 myself, though nothing like what you're working on here! Good luck on finishing it up!

I also found a couple of the discontinued ballast resistors I have been having trouble
locating. They have a very heavy duty look to them compared to stock. They are rated
@ 1/4 ohm which is what the race coils call for.
I believe I will put the ignition box's and ballast on a aluminum plate mounted to the inside
firewall. I plan to space it away with some kind of insulation between.
I found a aluminum thermostat housing to replace the iron one. It is not an old part
made in the 70s but I gave it a polish and It looks OK. If I can ever find a 65 race Hemi
aluminum piece I will swap this one out.
I also picked up a service manual to help test any wiring that gives me problems.
I am still working on getting the 3 pulleys in alignment for a single belt.
I have to get to making the spacers for mounting the alternator next.

Thanks for checking my progress and welcome to the site.
Cant help but love the 68s both stock and modified.

While I was in the polishing aluminum mood getting the thermostat housing
into shape I also polished the lid on the cool can & master cylinder relocation block.
I added a 70's sunoco 260 decal to the lid and will likely polish the entire can eventually.
The handle is a drawer pull I slid a piece of fuel line on.
This cool can came with a 3/8" coiled aluminum tube. I'm thinking I should have 1/2" and will see if I can up the size a bit.
I do the polishing while I am digging up or waiting on the next missing part needed to
move ahead. Alternator spacers are holding me up now that the fan is in place. Need 3 but I haven't measured for length yet. When I have the measuments I will order some I seen on eBay as they are cheaper than making them myself. Will order enough 1/2" aluminum fuel line to go front to back at the same time to get a start on the fuel system.
The master cylinder is still uncertain at this point. If I can find a vintage Hurst Airheart
aluminum job I will use it to save some weight. If not I will have the iron one chrome
plated.

I made the heater blower block off plate since I had a suitable piece of aluminum in the shop
without waiting on an order. I will use some of this sheet for mounting the ignition box's
also.
The plate looked a bit plain so I polished it and put a decal on it.
I have been on the hunt for a direct connection valve lash decal for the car but one hasn't
turned up yet. The largest percent of aftermarket parts used on this build have
a direct connection part #.
