FiTech EFI system

Does this mail in rebate work for canadian purchases as well? I sure hope so.

So I have it all hooked up and ready to roll - using an MSD 2 wire dizzy - locked and the FiTech for timing control.

Logged into the handheld and tried the initial setup. It allows me to change engine parameters, and says it saves the info, but when I query what is saved to the ECU the numbers are the same as what it came with by default and not the numbers I entered. I tried saving with the touch screen and with the toggle joystick. Same result with both, no save. Also interestingly it will not let me edit the Tach/2 Wire - Coil selection and is stuck on Tach. The edit button does nothing on that selection nor does the toggle joystick.

I'm stumped and its too late in the evening to call Tech support. I've gone over the wiring several times to make sure its solid and correct and it seems so.

Thoughts?

probably a silly question but was the main unit powered up, as in running when you saved the data? Or at least key on?

main power direct from battery?

Are you attempting to change the tach/ to 2 wire in the initial Calibration screen?

So what's the expected delivery date --- Just happened to look at the Holley they have pushed there's out till June --- If I decide to go with EFI it will be the Fitech

Started right up!!!! Runs great. Can't wait to get the wiring tidied up and take it out for a spin.
:burnout:

Sounds good!

from my experience with my relatively tame 318, I suspect you will need to richen up the accel settings.

Have fun! Up in winterland... we are finally expecting some warm weather this weekend, so maybe in a couple of weeks, I will be driving again.

^That depends on the vigilance, and if the user has a wide-band to tune the carb or not.

if it's a real good tune, expect 1-2, if it out, 3-5.

Nice rebate deal...kind of screws the ones that bought them earlier.....thanks guys

Hey...run right out and support them by buying them....no..no...wait...wait..six month then you can say 100 bucks...thanks

Tech question,

I have it up and running - finished all the wire tidying up, and wired up the electric fan control.

I'm running a locked MSD Dizzy, timing control through the FiTech (20 degree's of advance at idle) and the FCC for fuel (solid fuel pressure from the mechanical pump and the FCC). It starts and runs fine, idles at around 900 with about 14psi of vacuum and good volts.

Now, if I stab the throttle is stumbles very badly and will almost stall. If I gently throttle it past about 1200 rpm it will rev freely without issues. I haven't actually taken it outta the garage to drive it yet. Is this something that the ecu learning will correct? Or should I be adjusting something?

I'm pretty much a noob at all of the EFI parameters so be basic in your advice :)

Thanks

Sounds like an accelerator pump setting I believe.

Responded to your pm, but for the public eye...

dTPS Acc Gain = In order to “help” the acceleration fuel be large enough to handle a sudden throttle
snap open, the speed of throttle opening is used as a bit of a helper to make it bigger as the speed of
the throttle is opened faster. A larger number here will make it more sensitive to throttle opening
speed.
dTPS Acc Max = The dTPS fuel gain multiplier is limited to this amount. 100 means that no help is
given by this function. 199 means that the Fast Accel fuel is nearly doubled if the throttle is moved
quickly enough.

My handheld doesn't seem to have those variables avail. (dTPS) in the Accel Pump section. Is it hidden somewhere (I checked all the settings to see if it was avail. elsewhere)? Or perhaps I don't have some advanced tuning option checked?

I put about 100 miles on the combo. It drives really well.

You should have accel settings for accel pump and and fast accel for 3 different temp settings. Increase them all to say 25 and see if it changes.

Ken

Yeah I dont have a handheld in front of me, but they should be in there.

If you go into the display settings and enable the pro tuning, you'll find more settings in there. Should be under the accel pump section of the pro tuning.

Start with the dTPS settings first, it will tweak the overall at all Temps. If tweaking them doesn't get you substantial improvement, then move onto the individual settings.

Okay, I have some tuning questions and I figured it might help so folks here if you are a tuning noob like me.

First off - Hot start issues. It starts great during a cold start or even kinda warmed up starts (maybe 2 cranks to start). However, when its hot and I shut it off, then try to restart right away it tries to start but will just crank and not fire. Sitting for a bit and it will eventually start but with a lot of cranking. In looking over the handheld manual it seems as though adjusting the crank fuel 170 setting might help? Thoughts?

2. Did not pass emissions - High CO (so I assume a rich state) - Its currently running whatever AFR that it learned to like and I left it there. My emissions are done at idle and at 2500-3000 rpm. Would adjusting the idle AFR target and 3000 45kpa settings a bit more lean for just the test solve this issue?

Thanks for the help and bearing with me whilst I go through puberty on this tuning stuff. Much appreciated.
