I got this cam a while ago for my 440 build and would like some feedback on what y'all think of it for a street/strip build.

Thanks for your time and advice.

Looks like it will suck gas and kick ***.

I'm with the funny guy telling the truth. I'll be running a similar cam (Lunati solid roller) in my small block with 1.6 rockers.

I went w/ a 292-10 solid roller in my 505"/440. had the same came in my 406 sbc -gmc, was a hot sounding darn good running street cam in the 406. In the 505 it is a pussycat, doesn`t sound too wild at all. haven't much seat time , or running time on it, as the car isn`t finished yet. for what ever that`s worth !----wonder why mopar guys think a cam is a big one , when most chevy guys run bigger killer cams compared to ours ?!---- p.s. , the only thing that looks a whole lot diff., (going on memory here, not spec sheet), is that mine has 254 and 260 @ .050---------bob

If nothing else it will be an interesting cam to run. It is one size smaller than the XR292R that bob is running which as bob remembered is 254/260 @ .050.

On 03/03/2006, before we had our own dyno, we ran a 9.7:1 compression 451 stroker with our ported 452 iron heads and used the XR292R solid roller. These are the dyno results:

RPM..............TQ/HP

3900............547/406
4000............546/416
4100............554/432
4200............573/459
4300............574/470
4400............578/484
4500............586/502
4600............588/515
4700............584/522
4800............567/518
4900............569/530
5000............555/528
5100............556/540
5200............563/557
5300............562/567
5400............550/565
5500............547/573
5600............554/591
5700............545/591
5800............546/602
5900............544/611
6000............537/614
6100............534/621
6200............523/618
6300............507/608
6400............500/609
6500............490/607
6600............481/604
6700............471/601
6800............458/593

Now, the XR286R as a street/strip option for a 440, yeah it ought to be exciting.

I run the XR-292-10 in my 440. I can see by your dyno numbers that I'm leaving plenty of power on the table at this point. I have cnc Steallth heads and close to 11.5 to 1. So far its gone 121.4 mph in the 1/4 mile and my car weighs exactly 3500#with me in it. It has not been dyno tested but the power/speed calculator I checked says its 500 at the wheels and I'm running an A-518 overdrive and a Strange nine inch so I know those are soaking up plenty, I figure about 75 hp right there. I have still not really fine tuned it so I'm sure there's power to be had there and I'm also running an out of the box Torker II so it fits under the flat hood so that's probly 20-25 hp right there compared to a Victor or M1. What intake and carb did you use on the 451? To the OP, I can say that my XR-292 is very streetable. The idle is rough but not radical and cruises in traffic and on the highway at 3000rpm beautifully. My car even gets 12 mpg on the highway with this cam.

Yea yea, big cubes mello out cams. I know what ya mean.
I guess the size of a cam is relative to what your used to running and consider a big unit or not. Most Chevy guys that want to run hard will be able to since somethings are a lot cheaper to get, use, destroy and get again over our stuff. This in itself can keep a $$$ strapped MoPar guys out of playing hard.

QuickFuel Q950, Mopar Performance M1 single plane.

I'm not running the trick flow springs. The rocker arms are PRW but I sent them back.
