I have a 1967 Barracuda. Yesterday, Feb, 29, for unkinown reason my headlights will not turn on. What do I need to check?

Probably your headlight switch. I had mine go bad on a 70 Dart (at night of course), my side marker lights still worked, but no headlights.....

One common failure is the dimmer switch. They are very cheap to replace...probably around $5-$6.

^^Start at the dimmer switch. That is easy to access and "splits the problem in the middle. Turn on the HL switch and probe the dimmer with a meter or test lamp. Two of the terminals are hot, when you flip the dimmer, the third one comes hot and one of the other two goes cold. That is two are always hot with the HL switch on

Work the dimmer and see if the high beam indicator comes on and off. If it does, the problem is likely out front in the harness, connectors, ground.

The HL switch has TWO power sources. One source is ONLY headlights and is not fused

The second source operates tail and park and the dimmer controlled dash lights

From the HL switch, power goes to the dimmer, which feeds off either high or low, through the bulkhead connector, and out to the harness in the engine bay

Make certain the bulkhead connector is firmly assembled, and check the ground connection out on the radiator support. BOTH headlights ground at ONE wire connection to the rad. support

Dimmer switch, center terminal is the feed from headlight switch. Usually a green wire.

Another idea is a headlight relay kit. It removes the headlight load from the OEM system and increases light performance a lot! Removing the load makes the stock switches, bulkhead last longer from the heat being removed from the system.

It could be as simple as the connector having worked loose from the high/low beam kickswitch (some call "dimmer" switch).

Yep, a little investigation to find the source of the issue is a prudent approach.

Hey John give me a call. I have a dimmer switch and a headlight switch you can try. Come by and check out my newest purchase, 68 Barracuda.
