Getting ready to install the fuel tank. The auto body already installed the filler neck and gas cap. Is it possible to install the tank with the filler installed first? Or is it a lost cause?

Totally possible but would probably be easier with the neck out.
Don't forget to grease the neck before it goes in so it doesn't rip the seal.

I am almost certain the filler neck must be installed after. Be sure to use a new filler neck gasket and lubricate it lightly with a light spray on lubricant that will evaporate and not leave residue.

I imagine one could bend their fuel tank or quarter panel attempting to push it up and onto a fixed filler tube.

what is holding that filler neck on, 3 screws?

seems like a no brainer to me

I grab a friend and have him hold the tube while I'm down there pushing the tank up into it's place. That way there's no bending of anything and you can work the tube in there at a straight angle. I'll rub a little pit of vaseline around the grommet so the tube slides in easy.

Where did you find the tank seal? I'm debating buying a tank or fuel cell depending on if I can find that seal.
