Hi all,

I have a twin 3" exhaust behind my 565hp small block stroker with twin glass pack mufflers.
I want something a bit rowdier as these glass pack items seem to tame it and make it too quiet.
Any suggestions like a chamber muffler?
I still want a muffler that will flow well.

Thanks.

I don't really like the chambered mufflers. I love my thrush turbos. No drone on the highway and they aren't cop callers. Haha. But sound good when WOT.

I went with 3" pipe to Flowmaster super 44's and turndowns. Wife says everything in the house rattles when I pull in the driveway, I call that the perfect exhaust!

if the glass packs are to quiet, I would just run open headers...it doesn't get much louder then that

A chambered muffler?
For actual performance? Use the Hooker Aero Chamber.
Want noise, use a Flow Master 2 chamber.

I like the Thrush Welded. Absolute best bang for the buck! And sound awesome! You should post a video when you get it done, I'd like to see and hear it.

Dyno Max Ultra flows .

X2 as far as mufflers go. Turn down ahead of axle would enhance the sound and feel of what you have now. Carbon monoxide warning with this one.

As far as factory exhausts go, I was a big fan of a 65 Formula S Barracuda (non CA) in my neighborhood and the chambered exhausts available on the 67-69 Z-28 (no muffler).

What mine sounded like with dynomax mufflers turned down

Custom craft makes a slide in the collector muffler. You can get them from jets. They are NOT cone shaped. Rather they are three discs on a common tube. They slide in the collector. They come with the 3 bolt pattern or without.

It's the only muffler I run. Light. Loud. Gnarly. And the don't kill HP.

I would say if you are using a 3 inch collector, the muffler will function better if you use the next size up, like 3.5 inch collectors. They will work with what you have, but when you are on the edge of the collector being too small, the muffler starts to hurt it.

I run 340 inches, 1 7/8 headers with a 3.5 collector. And I drive it on the street.

Love Flowmasters, not too fond of the Dynomax mufflers that came with my TTi setup. I'm thinking about changing them.

i just put 3 in blackwidow venoms on my truck, i wish i bought them for my dart. nice and mellow at idle and down right nasty when you get on it

I built a custom 3'' exhaust on my 440 Gold Duster. I used Jeg's two chamber Flowmaster copies under the rear seat, over the axle tail pipes with DynoMax race bullets in them and an H pipe at the rear of the trans. Its perfect as far as sound for me. Plenty loud outside the car when I hit the loud pedal but its quiet enough when cruising and there is no drone when driving around town or on the highway. You can hear it by checking my YouTube channel, its the same name I use on here; Doosterfy.

Dyno Max Ultra flows .
These have a dual, triple personality, which is why I love them..
When you are being nice, they are reasonably quiet(on my 367combo at least). But when you stand on it they have a wonderful, get-outta-the-way-I'ma-comin-thru, scream. The rest of the time you can vary the sound with the gas pedal. And mine do not have any tendency to drone.I have received Zero negative comments on them. Well just one;from me. The pair weigh around 70 pounds.

Another vote for Dynomax Ultra Flo's!

I have a set of welded ultra-flows on my Duster. Not unbearably loud at idle or low RPM, and no drone at all (not like every flowbastard muffler ever made). But when you get on the throttle they sound amazing- much louder, great performance sound to them.

Here's the set on my Duster. This is a 2.5" system, and just clip of what they sound like at idle.

Thanks for the replies.
I kind of leaning towards the Hooker Max Flow mufflers. They seem very similar to the Dynomax Ultra Flow and are a lot easier to get here in OZ.

Get the one with the flashiest, coolest name and the highest price. Spittech or some such.

Yeah. The most expensive ones. They have to sound good, right?

I run the Hooker Max Flow mufflers. They sound great. Been on my car since 98.
