1964 Carter BBS Help Please

So the car is finally running again after nearly a decade long restoration. However, it is running rough and now I see that fuel is leaking out of the carburetor.

The carb is on a 1964 225 /6 and was rebuilt with a kit (dont know which brand).

It is leaking fuel from the bowl vent valve and the gasket that is supposed to seal the upper and lower halves. Looking at the picture it appears that the carb screws have been tightened down to where the tabs have been bent and therefore the surface is no longer flat to create a good seal.

I am interested in ideas to fix this issue as I'd prefer to keep this carb that appears to be original. What would you guys do?

Thanks.
