64 Valiant 440 build

-
Dude that looks badass! Can you post a picture of the locator bar mounts?

Never mind- Just saw it further up the page. Nice work!

Thanks. I'm not sure if I'm gonna stick with that panhard bracket, I was thinking of slotting it out for more fine tuning.

I like the stance where it is. I am not into the slammed look. Plus if you are going to drive th he car on public roads you may be glad you have more ground clearance. Enjoying your build.

I was going to run a 8 3/4 brace too but as it sits now, my gas tank is about 1/2 inch from the rear end.

Wow! What an incredible build so far. Can't wait for updates, a drivable project, and some live video. Gives me some ideas foe my build....'64 Barracuda, 340, 4 speed, 8 3/4, BBP conversion. Lots to do yet though. As to the "Guy" in Kingman......if it's the same guy......built a killer pair of headers for a '66 Valiant 440 build my dad was doing 25 years ago or so. Who knows. Dig the build. Keep going!

Quick update. Got rear suspension all welded up and also bolted on a set of Viking coilovers. Very pleased with the progress. Oh, I also got the seats in position and yes, the sliders do work. 100 points if you can guess what those buckets came out of!

Added some cheap insulation for the headliner, hoping this keeps some of the road noise down.

I really like your build. Lots of interesting hot roddin going on here.

just wait till ya really get to know me....that's when it turns to ball bustin :)

keep up the good work...we are all watching.

Got some pics from the guy doing my roll cage. I really wanted to build it myself but weather, space, and equipment were against me and his price was fair.

Wow! What a killer build. You sure took on a lot of work. I appreciate you posting so many pictures & details. My project is a '64 Barracuda.
Headers seem to still be an issue (unless I missed it). Someone commented about a guy in Kingston that builds custom headers. If that is the same guy from the mid '80's, use him. His work is phenomenal. My Dad built a '66 Valiant years ago with a '69 440. Awesome straightline car, fast as hell.
Headers built by Kingston guy, but Dad provided initial design. Tunes bent up & forward towards front of engine, then an up switchback bend back towards firewall, then down. True duel exhaust.

Had to beat Brad4406 to the punch and get my fuel cell mounted this weekend. Made out of 1.25" square tubing, 20 gal tank.

Good work. You passed me up.
Thanks, I was looking further into the NHRA rules and it appears I need a box around the part of the tank that's exposed under the trunk floor. The cell sits 7.5" under the trunk floor. I'm at least building a skid plate for the sump. Were you planning something like this?

I designed my framing so there was enough room to build a trunk pan inside the framing. Depending on how hard I hook at the track, I may decide to install wheelie bars to prevent damage to the sump area.

Fuel cell is almost wrapped up. Welded the frame in with fish plates and built a box around it with a .120" skid plate over the sump, really wish I had a bead roller. Made some plates in the trunk to fill in what's left and got it all in primer.
