Is it possible to run a stock non-o/d hurst shifter with a truck o/d? I picked one up with a shifter but wanted to use my A-body handle.

Not enough info. There are hundreds of different shifters, considering 833 OD was also used in GM Some shifters don't have removable handles, some are bolt on, and some slide into a socket and 'clip' in.

Yes. Almost every Hurst 4 speed shifter mechanism will interchange. There are only a few oddballs out there. I would look for a Competition Plus. They are nice. I have one bolted to the truck bracket on my truck 833OD right now that's goin in the rat truck.

Trans is a later dodge truck one and shifter is a '69 which I believe is a "clip" in style. I was planning to just swap the whole shifter box

I believe that is a direct swap. Same style levers for the linkage rods.
I like to drill & tap the truck shifters for adjustable over shift bolts
before using them. Like the competition plus comes with. 5/16-24
Don't forget the jamb nuts to lock them in.
