Keep it; you'll never get another engine that strong... It will easily take 30 pounds of boost with a turbo and can make up to 500+ horsepower....

Makes a really fun car (V-8 killer) out of any early A Body with no engine swap woes.

But, get ready to spend some money on forged pistons, rods, ($1,100.00 for both, ) a $200 A/F meter, O-Rings, (cutter, rented from Isky, $100.00) better cylinder head hold-down studs from ARP ($180.00?) and bigger valves (1.75"/1.5") and a turbo/waste-gate (66mm turbo) less than $800.00 for both.)

But, when you're through, you'll have an eye-poppping, 500hp mill that will put your early A Body into the tens at almost 130 mph... a Hellcat beater. With 6 cylinders... LOL!

Keep it; it's definitely worth waiting for...

all depends on where you are. most people wind up giving them away just to get them out of their garage!! . a GOOD one around here, $150 tops. someone someplace else, maybe they can get $3-500, that price will buy you a comparable condition B or L A engine here. or even a cast crank 440, maybe a steel one even.

I would just keep it if me. when you need one, everyone that has one for sale thinks "WOW! I own one, rare !!!!!,,,, its gotta be worth a pile!" LOL

Im not a 6 cyl guy either but definitely can respect them, i wanna find a scamp or dart or duster to put it in, leave the bidy alone, bare interior, turbo / 6, stout suspension and rear, and just something to dog around town

Yeah. You're 300-500 dreamin. lol

I just paid $350 for a completely rebuilt 1975 Slant six from a Duster, with a rebuilt torqueflite, both never operated after the rebuild. But the previous owner thought of it simply as trash in the classic truck he bought.

10 years back, I gave a mechanic buddy $500 for A FRESH rebiult slant and trans to go in a Demon. would do that again! FRESH REBUILT is the key word here. ! LOL

Probably worth $500 for future use, but unlikely you could sell for >$100. One advantage of staying w/ factory setup - slant, auto, drums, 7.25" rear, 4 door is cheap parts. The rare and desirable parts command big bucks, like a 4-spd tranny or Sure-Grip 8.75" rear w/ low gears. That is why some Darts are worth $90K and others $2K, though both may look similar externally.

Around here I would have to give it away. Nowadays there are essentially two categories of used Mopar parts:

1. Rare and valuable.

2. Everything else.

A Slant Six falls into the everything else category and people that buy everything else expect it to be cheap.

Unless you have the ideal car on hand, I'd sell it or give it away so that you aren't tripping over it. After all, somebody will probably give you another one if and when you decide to build a turbo slant:D

I was happy to get $75 for the last one I had extra.

I may have another one coming up, and it will have a 904 with it.

Neither ran but both turn and have clean oil and coolant

Good raw material! Wish I were closer.... :blob:

Depends on how desperate the buyer is. I laugh at the craigslist ads where people are selling old 100k+ slant sixes for $400 but I bet they get sold every once in a while when someone really needs one that minute. Usually they go for about the price of scrap.

Honestly, it's what people want to pay for them. People are into the V8s more than the Slant 6's- not too much of a demand for them. A good starting price for a running Slant 6 with the transmission would be $200 (and up). The carburetors are worth a good buck though.
