I think I can here ya KNOCKING!

if you have a piston slap or piston pin problem the noise will quiet down upon acceleration and return, or get worse on de-acceleration. hope that helps............

There ya go! Excellent demo.
45 seconds of pure torture to the crank.
If you catch it real early,I have gotten away with just a bearing replacement. And a crush adjustment. But this is well beyond "early". This is the final stages of mass destruction........

Yes, but I needed that crank to be bad enough to justify throwing it out and buying a stroker crank to replace it :burnout:

YOU GUYS AND THIS FORUM ARE THE BEST!

I got under the car today and pulled the cover plate off to inspect the flex plate and converter, and low and behold all 4 flex plate bolts were loose, so I torque them down with some loctite, put the car back together (I had to reinstall the intake manifold) and it fire right up and like magic the knock is gone!:burnout:

If wasn't for you all's help I would have probably had the motor torn apart looking for the problem.

I really dodged a big bullet on this one.

Thanks so much guys!

Good to hear, you got lucky for sure. I had a simila issue with the 318 in my car mounted to a 904. Sounded like rod knock, made noise all the time, I had cracked the flexplate into multiple pieces. A good used flexplate from my parts pile and a new front trans seal while I was in there, and all has been great for about 500 miles.

good news, hope you didnt wallow out the holes. Loctite those more than any other bolts in the car.
