Will any of you guys be at the Pike this summer?

I have heard rumors that Mopars In Motion won't be holding regular shows at Burger King this summer... is that right? If so, is there any other Mopar-centric gathering spot?

I have every intention of getting down there with my Dart this summer but I may be there in the Mustang in the mean time...

Nope, no more B/K cruise. But there is a bi weekly (first and third Saturdays of each month) cruise put on by a firebird club at the Panera Bread down the road. I plan on trying to hit that a few times this season.

Thanks guys...I wish it was better news.
I will look for you guys at Panera...I still plan on heading down and looking for car-friendly landing spots regardless.

Yeah, the story I got was that the damn ricers pulling their stupid chit causing problems on Fridays got the other businesses in an uproar and put pressure on BK to end all cruise nights. They wanted to continue with the Saturday cruise but had to give in to the wishes of the other businesses in the area. BTY there is a misconception that Mopars in Motion ran that show. They did not run it, an individual person ran it. Just wanted to clear that up.

What's the situation this year, guys?

Has the action started picking up yet? This weekend looks like it might set things back a bit (assuming they treat the roads again) but last weekend was mild and clear...I wanted to get down there so badly!

The Berlin Turnpike still gets traffic? I used to live in CT in the late 80s/early 90s. Back then we all parked and showed at Roy Rogers until it was time to go racing around 1 AM. At the time I had a 1973 Ford Gran Torino and my cousin had a 1972 Cuda 340. I'd always had a bit of a Mopar thing - loved GTXes and Chargers - but that Cuda was the one that really drove the nail in deep.

Now that I've got my 69 FB Barracuda, maybe once I've got it streetable I'll take a trip down for old times' sake!

That was Ralph's cruise night. Mopars in Motion is the club he is/was the president of, so a lot of members supported it. The turnpike is nothing like it used to be and I probably wouldn't take a car out there anymore. I used to be there 2 nights a weekend, get there around ten, get some races setup, go home around 2. The imports are just stupid and the cops have no sense of respect for anything car related even if you are behaving - it's just not worth it any more.

ralph from mopars in motion is doing a cruise nite in southington some where. contact him on the mims site to get more info. we are also doing a big carshow at the glasstonbury elks club may 21st . also we will be starting our cruise nites every 2nd wednesday of the month at georginas resturant 4pm till dark. come by and check us out.

The Firebird club has a show at Panera on every-other Saturday. The first one was 5/20...some pretty nice machines there.

So you guys who avoid the Turnpike, where else do you go for your car-hangout fix?

Back in the late 80's and early 90's ( Roy Rogers to Mcdonalds and back) we used to head there about every couple of weeks and cruse the turnpike from Groton, New London Norwich area. Now the turn pike is so built up, nothing is going on. I tried to hit Ralph's thing at Burger King. Between the ricers, and bo-bo's plus the police are using under cover cars to actually try to get people to race them. I had the Demon up there last year and left Ralph's thing headed to my friends house in Meridan and a turbo coupe tried to race me and something told me "just let him go" about a mile up the road the same car had a guy pulled over in an old stang. Blue and red hide-a-ways going crazy.
I understand that all these new restaurants and shops bring the town money but it is really sad to see a piece of my past gone forever.
