One of the frequenters on the Lost Muscle Cars on FB ( https://www.facebook.com/lostmusclecars/) recommended that I look for help through here. Need help to find this. Here is my 68 Formula S Notch-roof Barracuda, VIN BH23H8B195211 that I'm looking for. This car has history and sentimental value to me.Here's part of my story - My best friend, Max Harris(he has passed on) in the Air Force was the 2nd owner of it;he bought it around 1970. Over the years as his family grew, he quit taking it overseas with him. I would "buy" it from him when he shipped out, and he would "buy" it back when he returned as I shipped out. I was the last one to have it 1988 at Makah AFS on the tip of Washington State. Being out there for a few years, I rebuilt it, inside and out. When I got overseas orders, he was still overseas, so I was going to store it until one of us returned as I had a family and was taking the family van with us. I received a letter from him saying that I should sell it. It was years later that I found out that he didn't send that letter;his wife did. I sold it to SSgt Austin Brown who was headed to Avon Park AFS in Florida. Our agreement was that we would stay in touch in case he wanted to sell it and I would have 1st preference to buy it back. We stayed in touch until I retired in Jan 1994. In my last move, I lost contact with him and wasn't able to locate him after that, even through friends from the old radar site in WA. I would search the internet with the VIN every now and then, but always nothing. I had major medical problems in 2009 and 2010, and then moved to Arizona in 2011. I didn't restart my internet search until 2012.I then found that it had sold twice on Ebay - once in 2010; http://www.usedcarsfsbo.com/asp/Item.asp?soldid=2019&make=Plymouth&theday=5/16/2010 , and then again in 2011: http://usedcarsfsbo.com/asp/Item.asp?soldid=31513&make=Plymouth&theday=7/10/2011. I was able to contact the person who sold it in 2011 who told me that he kept no record pertaining to the sale.Interesting to note is that he told me it was still under Florida registration when he got it, fixed it up and flipped it. Two of the pictures with the mag wheels are what it looked like when I owned it. One of the subsequent owners who flipped it in 2011 added the red stripes,dog-dish hubcaps and steel wheels. Please pass this on and help me in my search. If you have any info, please contact me through PM.Thanks for your help in this search as this car means a lot to me and to my god-daughter (max's daughter).

GOOD LUCK in your search!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A guy came on this site a couple of years ago looking for a '69 'cuda he ordered new, well ended up I had it and did end up selling it back to him. (i'll find the post for you to read thru and gain some hope in your search because it does happen!!!!)

BB-Dave - thanks for the encouragement! I haven't given up hope, and stories, such as this always boost my spirits.

A lot of people on this site know i'm a notchback LOVER and your old car is a SUPER SWEET ONE!!!!!!
If you know the car was alive in 2011, it's definitely still around!!!!! The bigger problem is when you find it is trying to get the guy to sell it back to you.
Looks like it has a saddle/brown interior?

I remember see it on eBay but have no info on it. Awesome looking car, good luck in you search. I would love to own a 68 Notchback 383 or 340 car(I have been looking for a while).

Wow!!!!
I bought this off e-bay and brought it to Canada. I have since sold, but will help find current owner in Canada.
Will Pm the poster.
Dave

Dave, thanks! I responded to you PMs. Here are pictures of it that I mentioned in the PM. This is when I worked on it in 1986/87/88 timeframe. I'm going to let my goddaughter (the original owner's daughter) know that I am closer to finding it. Again, thanks for your help on this.

BB-Dave, I have to say your story was a fantastic one. I hope this works out as well for Ralph as it did for the other fellow!

Update .

away from talking to him.
Also talked to Ralph tonight and he is a really great guy, makes me hope
even more this works out.

I only have a pic of the motor and the drivers side of the notch and I have never been able to ad pics on here as I don't have a host for the pics.
I had this notch and a 67 4speed convert but I am a Fastback guy.

Getting closer - I left a message for the current owner today. I left my cell and home phone # and my email address. Here's hoping that he will follow up and contact me.

Kind of exciting! Interested to see what it will take to get it back. It's amazing how much value the A body barracudas have put on recently. I guess all Mopars have gone out of sight recently.

The prices seem to have stabilized a bit in the last couple years. Now the early and late ones are starting to move up since the rest have become too costly for the normal joe.

I wish you all the luck in obtaining your old car back. I found my old Challenger after looking for 20 years. I recently purchased the contents of a local mopar shop that the owner had died. In that stuff was a 69 440 block. I was able to return to the owner of a 69 GTX his original 440 block that had been MIA for a long time.

Today, I successful made contact by phone with the current owner. He lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. We talked for about 45 minutes. Bad news for me, at least for now, he is not interested in selling the car. Good news is that we will stay in touch and, if in the future he decides to sell, he'll have my information. I'll be sending him some early history about the car, and some early pictures. It was apparent that he is a car guy as well as a NASCAR fan. He will be in the Phoenix area for NASCAR in November. We'll connect in person and I'll show him around the Phoenix car cruise, including a trip to Ernie Adams' Dwarf Car museum - http://www.dwarfcarmuseum.com/ - just south of where I live, and possibly a trip to the Penske museum. Well, they say that every cloud has a silver lining. Here's hoping for the future!

Thanks to Dave for his help in tracking the car since he purchased it in 2011! Good luck to all others looking for their previous rides. This website and group of people rock!
