Hemi Swap 2014 5.7 VVT

Blueduster and Cu440da,

Thanks for the advice guys.

I had a couple back and forth emails with Mike @ efi source and I will probably go with them. Seems less expensive and more versatile at this point in time. As for the VVT being shut off...good to know but as long as the engine runs good I can live with or without VVT at this time. Good to know about the 4-6 week back order. I have taxes to take care of this month anyway so it will probably be a couple months before I scrape together money for that. I have had two false starts on engines for this project so far, I really just want to make it run.

I guess I need to buy some MDS block off plugs.

Still need Motor Mounts. I hear good and bad stories about TTI mounts and I know others have fabbed their own or used Speedway or other hot rod mounts. But my welding skills are almost non existent so fabbing my own at this point is almost a non starter. I do have that 90 degree oil adapter that I hope will clear the motor mount a little better.

I see people selling intake manifold bolts. Are the factory ones a one time use thing? Or is this just an opportunity to play dress up and put something shiny on your engine? :)

Just want to make sure I have what I need before I take something apart.

I need to do some car juggling to work on the dart. My rusty challenger sits where I need to work on the dart. Dad and mom lost the paperwork on the challenger so you can't park it on the street or the tow yard gets a present courtesy of the city police.

The Dart and the Challenger are at my girlfriends place and I guess I should take the challenger to my place across the river. Just hate paying to tow stuff but no plates so I can't do this one myself.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Mike

I called EFIsource. The system is VVT ready but shipped with it turned off. It needs to be programmed to each car individually. That part of the system is not self learning. One tune will not work for various combos. If you have a good dyno shop with a good tuner they most likely can handle it.
Even if you use the factory ECM set up by Hotwireauto.com or diversifiedcreations.com it still needs to be tuned for your car to work properly. No different than tuning a distributor in theory. Only with computer code vs weights, springs and vac advance.
He did admit they are behind by 4-6 weeks in supply. I haven't dealt with them so I can't say how reliable that estimate is.
