I figured I had better repost this swapmeet find in the racers part of the forum. Is it just me (which it probably is) or are these valve covers growing on trees ?? I very well know it's what it means to me and beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that stuff. The box still has the 1988 shipping label to the dealership- a year after mopar proformance became the new mopar parts brand name ? The box has been opened, but its very obvious these have never been on a car. There's even a little sealed baggy with the two rubber grommets and a folded up piece of paper which could be the instructions? From 1988 (or older) I'm sure it's not instructions that say- do not let your child swallows small parts or plastic?
Again this could be all my personal perception of what they mean to me. I called my son and told him about them and he said "don't put them on the car!" Leave them in the box, there more valuable that way. I said I'm putting them on the car they've spent to long in a box with no one getting to see them.
now I'm not sure of putting RTV all over the gasket, but there going on.

Nice set and a great collectors piece. Are these yours? Did you buy them or are they for sale?

I bought a set of the same color back about that time for my 70 Barracuda, I drove to Memphis to see a new hot rod shop that opened and had to have them.
Wow !!

So, how did FABO miss the boat on these???

Glad to see you did not miss the boat on them, and that they are finally coming out of the box and going on something!!!

Where a lot of us Mopar nuts belong!

They are very much mine! I'm very excited about them. Everything is for sale I guess but you don't even want to know what my price would be to get these away from me in the condition there in.
I traded an overdrive 4 speed o/d , the crossmember, hurst shifter mechanism, and a big block 4-speed dust cover and didn't blink an eye.

No big deal I just mention them in another thread. I'm thinking well there's a lot of mopar guys out here that would like to see this kind of stuff

Cool stuff! Just be careful how hard you look at them. They just may dent, nick, or scratch!

#-oDamn, there's another one!!:banghead:

lol.... Jpar, you have more threads than a seamstress.

There's a thread on here mentioning these valve covers. There might be a small tab in the opening for the grommet that can possibly dislodge and get into your engine. Just check before you install. Awesome find. You never see them anymore.

There are people who NEVER post threads, and only post on others? AND have the nerve to ask to see others cars, but never show there's !?! (NOT you)
LOL.... hear ya real clear.... lol

I know there's thousands out there, but new in the box? Not every day.

Hell of a find! I would be having a hard decision as well on what to do with them. Congrats and I dont blame you for calling your boy up and telling him your excitement!!

Those are awesome , I would use them too, what good are they sitting in the box

I agree, its like dropping coin on a Fender Stratocaster and never playing it. Someone will have their way with 'em after your dead and gone, I say use 'em, bolt 'em up.

:thumleft: ^^^^ thank you men for the congrats. I'll be sure to post a picture this week when they go on. And I will also document the where they were bought how they were bought when they were put on the car and what car and so forth and put that slip of paper in the Box. How to pull out the RTV and start goopping on some Gaskets. #-o

I had a chrome set of big blocks years ago. last year a friend was moving and said "I've got some stuff if you want it". The covers I had sold him were in the pile... I don't have the car or the entire engine from that time. But I now have the valve covers and heads...lol.

Nice find! Been keeping an eye out for a set of those myself.
