Show your Slant 6 engines!

5 years on this slant I modified to drive as a daily driver here in Arkansas, hot days was no problem for this set up, fresh air breather box out of a Jeep, 390 smooth running four barrel holley with a split manifold dual exhaust, this little 170/6 kept me on the road as a daily driver for 5 strong years and 20.000 miles of in town and a few long trips :color:
Love this engine, going to miss it :glasses7:

That's another good looking Slant 6! I like that Jeep breather box that looks pretty cool.

Here is the 225 in my 73 Power Wagon with clifford intake, headers, and weber carb.

And here's the new one I'm building out of a 75 Duster. Will also be turbo.

No pics yet as I am in the process of assembling the motor. It is a 65 block bored 30 over, the block decked 90 thou, head cut 10 thou, mild port and polish with engnbldr 1.70/1.40 stainless steel valves coupled with 340 valve springs. Cam is the original that was re-ground by Oregon to their 346 grind (234/228 @ .050 or old style numbers .476/.479). Compression will be around 9.4 to 9.6 to 1 depending on which head gasket I use - FelPro or stock steel. I haven't decided which intake to use yet - a Dutra Hyperpac or Offy 4 barrel coupled with the FiTech fuel injection or my triple DCOE45 Weber combination. Exhaust will be a set of early Clifford long tubes for an early A with power steering. With a 4 speed I expect it ought to run OK.

WOW! That thing is sweet! I bet that car is a blast to drive lol. Nice engine! :D

Thanks for the nice comments! It makes about 360 horsepower (with a stock-sounding idle) on 15 pounds pf boost. It should run good on the street, but will never see the street, as it's just a motor to have fun with on the drag strip...

Stock slant six A bodies usually can manage to run some mid-eighteen-second elapsed times in the quarter mile at about 74 mph. Only ten pounds of boost will improve that to mid-fourteen second elapsed times at about 85+mph.... an astounding jump in seat-of-the-pants "feel."

It gives the slant a whole new lease on life. Not easy nor cheap, but well worth it if you have the time, patience, and money to make it happen!

Guaranteed to put a HUGE smile on your face.... :glasses7:

That's ok, work in progress pictures are also good... :violent1:

Then follow up when it's done and show the finished engine.... :toothy1:

OK WIP pics tomorrow!

There's nothing like seeing freshly machined blocks, cranks, and all the parts for the short block ready to go in...

Are you in middle of assembling it right now? Is the head on yet? - if not, check out my thread on how you can check the EXACT compression of your engine. It's written for a small block, but the procedure is the same for a slant 6, just make a cover plate to fit your cylinder head bolt pattern. It's easy to do at home with and without costing a fortune.

Another work in progress. Should have had the pistons in but got the wrong rod bearings. DOH!

Not much to look at now, but I hope to have it ready for the slant six races at Mason-Dixon in May.

Head is not on yet. I did this when I CC'd my head, and used calipers to determined how far down in the hole the piston is. Next step is to degree the cam. Will take in progress pics after taking one of the 4 weiner dogs to the vet for shots.
