Hello, all A-Body fans,I'm restoring a '70 Dart Swinger 340,and it seems that my car has a '71 grille (Blackened with silver)paint scheme,I am to beleive the '70 grille is all silver.Am I correct?also,my question is,could I leave it black and silver, and would it be correct for my year car,and if it is not,is the all silver paint scheme all the same color and texture or is it a two tone silver paint?.Any knowledge or ideas would be appreciated . Thanks R.W.

Good question,
I just restored my 70 Swinger grille.
Every book I have on Darts shows the grille with the black and silver scheme.

Semi-flat black
Argent silver

I used a clear coat after I was through to protect the paint.

hope this helps.

this might help. this is from the dealer brochure...

Nice pic demon.

You cant tell in the pictures but the parking lights have silver around the edge.

Jusy wanna say thanks Johnny dart and 7demon2,the dealer brochure really helps,I guess the all silver may be correct for a Dart custom or Dart 270,but I'm convinced not for a 340 swinger after seeing the brochure, thanks again R.W.

Ok, another question, has anyone got a good idea how to repair the broken bolt hole tabs that are common on these plastic grilles? Is there a plastic weld kit or tab kit for these? if not, I will have to come up with something. I was thinking riveting or screwing sheet metal tabs to the grille, but that may not be a good idea, I can see the rivets and screws ripping out of the plastic. Anyone re popping these grilles yet?

I own a very original 340 Swinger and the grill is mostly argent color with black accents. OER is working on a reproduction grille for the cars, not sure when / if it will be produced. There are epoxy products that work pretty well for plastic repair. Some better than others. Hope this helps :coffee2:
