IF your car has a canister and egr they have to be hook up,a buddy got pulled over last year he had nothing and they fined him 3 fraction he has to fix or up to 5 grand each in fines if he caught this year.
That sucks. Sounds like your buddy was one of the very few who get nailed since I doubt there is a well informed/educated smog police that knows what/how each car manufacturer was doing to comply with federal emmission standards between '71 and '76. Best bang for the buck for the smog police would be to hit the car shows and that'd be it.
