killer build man. ton of room in there. should be able to make all kinds of power and be in a nice lite weight package.

I proposed this to another guy, but why don't you do 4 turbos, one for each exhaust port. You have the room. :D

Thanks guys there's not as much room in there as you might think I think when the tubes are all put together it's really going to get crowded quickly

On a twin scroll the collector is divided in half. Half will run from 1/2 cylinders and the other will run off of 3/4. The wastegates are plummed from the collector needing 2 because of the division.

This might explain it a little better

So Today I figure out my tubing runs. I ended up having to rotate the collector flange up a bit to clear the bump out for the control arms. I could have got it around it, But not sure the paint would survive with the header tubes being that close. Made some temporary brackets to bolt it in place so it won't be moving around while tacking all the tubes in place.

you should look into a top mount design for a manifold. face the air inlet towards the front and exhaust down and out the back. looking at you motor placement it looks like you have more room then you would in a neon. in less you want the turbo up front lol. looks great. i love seeing the progression. here is a design to give you a idea.

Any particular advantage to that? It looks like the way he has it minimizes the plumbing on the intake side. Are you just suggesting he rotate the assembly but otherwise keep it in the same general location? I can kind of see how designing brackets to support the weight of the turbo might be easier the way you are suggesting.

. turbo manifolds are crazy. better not going to say better. it really matters on the design, runner length, and tubing diameter. I have seen longer manifolds spool at a much later rpm then shorter. more intercooler piping will not hurt. I really feel if done right it can look much better. but then again it is all about the design and what he is after. I love the idea of keeping the exhaust under the car. either way it should be sweet

I have looked at several different designs. I looked at the top mount design and thought about going in that direction. But after some conversation with Nigal at Brutal Fab. And Darrell at DCR. This is the best way for what I'm trying to accomplish. The twin scroll collector plays a part in the design I have chosen. I need as equal length runners as possible and as short as I can keep them. Yes long runners will spool a little slower. I need cylinders 1 and 4 to pair up and 2 and 3 to merge at the collector. I also am dealing with to wastegates to plum in there. This design in the neon world is call a sidewinder. To me it looks like a v8 header mounted upside down. The space is a little more cramped that it looks in the pictures. When I get the tubes built you will see just how crowded it is. This also puts the heat right below the heat extractor on the hood. No support will be needed the manifold is make of schedule 10 stainless steel the collector is the same tube diameter is 1.5. Here is the machined flange I'm using. A very nice piece. As for exhaust. Well there wont be any. If you look at how I have the turbo set up you will see the hot side/Exhaust is pointing right at the right fender apron. Yep that's where its going right through the apron will us a vibrant ultra quiet resonator and right out the front of the fender. basically an open down pipe. Pictures below

you have been in touch with the right people nigal knows his stuff and darrell has been in the neon game sense the start. i had a sidewinder design in my 97 neon. i one main fault i had was the heat it put off. it really made it tough to fix the car at the drag strip hahahah

Yes I can imagine it will produce so heat. I'm on the fence to send it off to jet hot and have it coated. I like the look of the gold color of the stainless. Nigel will be flying in to do the tune.

Well I ordered some more bends for the manifold today. So nothing really to show. So a little on the CAC today. Need a reducer for the intercooler as you can see. Also need to order some better boots and clamps. Just bought some cheap stuff off of ebay to figure out what I really needed to put it together.

Vibrant tubing and couplers showed up today. Along with the other heat extractor.
so started fitting the new CAC tubing in place of the mock junk I bought from ebay.
Still waiting on the bends I need for the manifold. S keeping with doing what I can to keep moving.

ive seen this thread for years, but just now looked through it. didn't see the turn coming with the neon engine, or just how far you are taking it.

I'm such a slacker.

ill be watching from the background.

That's not a problem for me at all! Give me a call when you're about ready -- my Dance Card is very full but it would be an honor to help out with your build. :-D

So this week I finished trimming up the front valance to clear the intercooler now I just need to make some pieces to close out the pieces to the valance I had cut out from when I had the intercooler flipped the the way.
I was able to make some time today to work on the manifold tubes I have 2 tubes cut fit and tacked in place. Just 2 more to go. Just about done with the fabrication. Still hoping for July.

It's starting to look like a car more and more. Really nice to see the engine bay filling up.

. The tune will come from Nigel at Brutal Fab in South Carolina. We are estimating a little above 500 at the wheel on pump gas.

If Nigel is too busy, let me know and I'll tune this in a heartbeat. I've tuned a few dozen 550-600whp 2.4L Srt

Yes defiantly filling up quick

Thanks for the offer. I will keep you in mind

So it might be ready for the nearby Nat's in August?
Hoping for July. Not sure how well this car will be received by the general mopar crowd. The Nats to me is more of a gathering of restored cars.
