anyone else feel this way?????

And what's wrong with that?
Grocery stores do it all the time, as well as auto parts stores, etc.
It's called business.

And you just answered your own question. Way too many people trying to make a business out of selling some old parts. And a lot of them don't give a crap about what you're working on or if you get the parts you need, as long as they make a killing on the parts.

I had a guy call me on a good running 360 I told him hundred and fifty- his response was complete? I said just the engine no alt starter carb- he offered me 75. Yep I'm tired of the "enthusiast/hobbyist"!

No kiddin. I usually like to try to negotiate a little but dang 150 was a steal to begin with.

No.
It's not how fast you sell its how fast you sell good

Yep- he said he needed it for his Volare. I thought it was cheap at 150 but it just seems to me that most Chrysler guys just gotta cut you to the bone. I sell Ford and GM parts too but they are never so quick to lowball as Chrysler guys. And that goes for parts at the salvage too. Just my experience though maybe I'm just dealing with the wrong crowd!

Well, I don't live in California. I will tell you now, there are NO B-Bodies in the pick-a-part yards here. I live in a rust belt, and those b-bodies were already crushed by the mid 90's. Happy hunting here for old mopars in the yards, that includes mid 70's C-bodies

Well, i live in California (Northern) and i can also tell you that B body cars don't exist in any of the wrecking yards around here too.
You are lucky to find Diplomats, or 5th Avenue, cars, the last of the rear wheel drive cars anymore, in a sea of front wheel drive cars.
Right now, there are only 2 A body cars, in all the Pick-N-Pull wrecking yards, within a 130 mile radius of Sacramento.
Sometimes an Aspen, or Volare, shows up, but thats even an extreme rareity, in this day and age.
The days of finding 40+ year old Mopar cars in wrecking yards, is pretty much over, even for us guys out here in the Western states.

They are coming north over the mexican border. Going into the wrecking yards near there in the States. They get more for them here, then in Mexico,

I didn't see it in Chicago CL I usually check every other day. I need 10x 2" rear drum setup. Where are you located.
I'm 2 1/2 hours away from Chicago. Since I bought another Duster a few months ago, I won't be selling it now. I was using that as just one example......

Like my 273 intake to pan... ran good when pulled a few years ago. Has the adjustable rocker assembly for a solid lift cam, should have the forged crank, I have 3 dragways that are 90 minutes away. Thought some SB racer would jump on it for those pieces.....
Or the guy wanting a good core for a date-correct '65, 200 bucks = not 1 call. LOL

But if I wanted adjustable rockers/shafts/push rods for a solid lift cam project, I bet I'm forced to pay 150 just for that stuff..... and get the "harder and harder to get 'em" story. Selling stuff makes me feel like I over pay for everything I buy.

won`t call any names, but there is a guy on here, that wanted a set of original rear exhaust hangar brackets for a form S car. I have a pair that I glass beaded and repainted black so they wouldn`t rust, they are in new shape, I ask him 45 plus shipping, and he didn`t pop, said it was too high, he could find them cheaper. a while later I ran across an ebay ad for some he was selling, he wanted way bigger bucks for his !

Bob that's crazy. Sounds very reasonable to me......even cheap.

I have a nice Hawthorne Village complete On30 starter set. The Confederate Express train set. I am fixin to just throw it out. I cannot even get an offer on it. All of it is new except for two cars. It is just too big for what I am modeling and I don't have the room for it any longer.

Some people make a killing on parts, it's just not me.
As a matter of fact, over the years, I've given away or scrapped more stuff than i will ever remember........
I usually like trading, that way, both parties are happy with the deal.
To me. it's not about the money, it's getting what you need and what the other person needs.
Yes, I've made good money on parts when sold, and I've lost money too.
If it's worth it to me, then i do the deal.
The thing that i can't stand is those hard luck stories that a lot of people have. I've been screwed big time by these losers crying poverty and me falling for it only to be ''flipped'' a few months later because ''i had to sell it, i needed the money'' for a tidy profit.
If you go to a grocery store and buy food, the store factors into the price what it costs to receive it, handle it, display it, and sell it. And they add their profit on top of all that for their trouble.
It's called business.
I work in the food industry, and i know what the actual cost to the manufacturer is.
Without profit, i would not have a job. An item that leaves our plant for say $10.00 to us (all in) is sold for $30.00 retail. And everyone is making money. GOOD money.
So, doubling the price on parts and cars and making money is not good?
What about trading and selling to fix your own car up?
Not everyone is a money monger, i just think people don't like the thought of someone making a profit on your back.
You would crap your pants if you really knew how the world of business works.
Basically, the market is defined by supply and demand, and if the supply is down, and the demand is high, it goes to the highest bidder and that determines the price.
Case in point, a 426 Hemi engine in Europe will always sell for more than the United States.
A B-Body 8 3/4 will sell more easily in an area where there is no junk yards plentiful with them.
Rant over, but everyone has to be real...........:D

Its all hit and miss. I've been trying to find an a body 8 3/4. All the ones I see (not that many) are offered much higher than I'd pay. I've got a couple Dana 70s. I bet I'd be lucky to get 200 out of either but if I needed to buy one I'm sure I wouldnt find one for less than 500.

A $150 for a running 360 sounds like a good price to me . I'm starting to hate dealing with people . I'm the type of guy that would make a deal on a hand shake and stick to it . Hell I've even bought cars site unseen before . Sometimes it's worked in my favor sometimes not . But I stuck to my word ! I had a guy make a done deal with me on the hood I have up for sale . He gets down here and then try's to cut me off at the knees . Another one is the instrument cluster I have up for sale . A member here contacted me , we talked on the phone and we struck a deal and he said he'd have the paypal payment out to me that night . A week go's by and no payment . I call him and he said he had a brain fade or something and he'd get it right out to me . a few days go's by and no payment . I call him and he said something about putting a check in the bank to cover it . End of that week , still no payment . After a month of going back and forth he tells me now that he's been waiting on a check for some 340 he sold to a member and hasn't gotten paid for it so go ahead and sell it to someone else . The trouble is , in all that time I told everybody else that asked about it that it was sold and now I have to start all over again . He should have told me from the get go that he didn't have the money . Me personally ? I see something I want , If I have the money , I contact the guy and buy it . No games ! Why can't other people be like that ?

Sorry if that turned into a rant guy's .

Yep ! Sounds like the builders remorse to me . I swim in this crap all the time. The thing with CL is , people want something for nothing , I mean we all jack the price for negotiation room but some of these guys stupid low ball ya. Mopar, just say the word and its an etra
30% new used it doesn't matter because its MOPAR. You talk about the resto shows , infact it is a big business . Everybody and their dog is doing it , the thing is you don't see many
Mopars on the shows (except for GraveYard Cars )so when they do get a Mopar they act like its the Holy Grail. Its people like this that make this hobby hard. They buy a car for
$6000 , you and I know its a $1500 car , they put $2000 into it and sell it to some nut for $20,000. then you wonder why you can't find cheap parts. Every year people in our town push the old cars to the front lawn during our annual car show with a outrageous price tag on them because they watched Barrett Jackson. So it is what it is. I sell on here , I try to keep my prices fair, have given away stuff, have taken it in the shorts on shipping a few times . I guess what it boils down to is to thine own self be true.

just got back from Mopar day at Mo-Kan Raceway. they been doing this there for years. used to be good crowd, but fell off bad when the economy tanked, but last 3 years it gets bigger and better, great turnout... 1 /4 mi drags, good s wap, small car show crowd. I needed various parts. found everything I needed priced anywhere from fair to bargains/ cheap........ I was happy and probably the vendors were too.

lets put it this way, IF I sold these parts on here, I would double up, if on feebay it would go 3- 4 times more!??? ! LOL but I bought the stuff to use on projects not be in the parts business!

but this area is conservative, lower income than most parts of the country.

I will say this. its a lot of difference is parting out cars, s elling off those parts...... than buying those old parts and finding them usuable!!! basically mechanical stuff. if the parts s eller is restoring his cars and selling off good parts he doesn't need..... or is he stiping a junker hauled in in questionable condition!???????

I MUCH rather be buying parts or project cars than trying to sell ANYTHING, cars or parts!!!!!!!!
