Damsel in distress

Ok still need help please..... losing hope and patience and about to cry

New plugs and wires
No cracks in oil pan or anywhere I can see
Only one oil filter seal thingy
Still had oil in car and it had no metal in it
Still won't turn over.... fly wheel won't crank. So assuming the engine is locked? ????....

I don't see any reason why the engine would be locked if there was still oil in it when it stopped running. Those slant sixes are practically indestructible. Does the engine do anything at all when you try to start it? Does it make a clicking noise? Does the battery still have power?

It's possible the problem may not be with the engine, except for the obvious oil leak which needs to be fixed, but that shouldn't keep it from running. The problem could be that the alternator wasn't charging and drained the battery dead which might be why the engine died and won't start. Engines have a tendency to backfire when the battery power is being drained which could have been the bang that you heard.

It's really difficult to give you an accurate diagnosis without actually being there to take a look at the car in person because there are a lot of things that could be causing the problem. Before you buy any expensive parts or try any major repairs you really need to figure out exactly what the problem is, otherwise you will just be throwing money at it.

I would suggest that you see if there is somebody in your area who can come out and take a look at it just to help determine what the problem is. I know you want to do the work yourself (and I know that some guys can be "bleepholes" when assuming that women don't know anything about cars) but it is ok to ask for help.

In the meantime, maybe you could check the battery to see if it still has power. That's just a wild guess from here though.
